I have drove by Younger than Yesterday many, many times. It is located in a small strip mall on University Street. I finally got to go in! It has the smell of incense that's not overwhelming, but definitely noticeable. In the front, they have record players and different odds and ends. To the right they have more a bargain bin. On top of the counter they have an assortment of 45's. All of their records are in plastic sleeves to protect them from normal wear and tear. Their selection is older. They do have some newer albums, but they are mixed in the older ones. The pricing is a little higher than Amazon/online stores. I wouldn't mind paying the price, but some of them are used. The price of the used records are a little high. I will certainly be making another trip. You could definitely spend a lot of time in this shop.

If you can't fine it, guaranteed they'll have it. My go to for all the vintage records I'm trying to replace.

At least for the styles I shop for (jazz, experimental, electronic), this store is full of strange, unknown things. I like how they have a special section for deluxe horror movie soundtracks (think Waxwork Records, Mondo, and the like). I also appreciate how you never know what kind of weird thing you'll find there (like an old DJ Krush Mo Wax 10" for a reasonable price). My main complaint is the difficulty of browsing. First, the record bins in the main area are so high that you need a stool to see the furthest back albums unless you're decently over 6' tall. The store has stools sitting around for just this purpose. Second, the bins are completely packed, so there's no flipping through records. You have to grab a chunk, set them aside, and then you can brows. It makes digging a real pain and is one of the reasons Reverberations isn't in my regular rotation. Some have written about the owner being rude. I didn't find him rude, but yeah, he doesn't usually say hello or goodbye or look you in the eye when you check out. Definitely not the gregarious type you find at a place like Exile in Champaign, but I never got a rude vibe. Maybe he's more effusive and warm if you're a regular. If browsing wasn't such a pain, I'd give it four stars. Any record shop that continues to exist is a good thing. Certainly worth checking out if you're in the area.

Friendly owner, ample parking, and an incredible array of new and used records. Items are priced to move not gouge the customers, and conditions are exact. And what's crazy is the depth of the inventory. Really, this store is stacked. Local collectors are lucky to have Reverberation as one of their brick and mortars. Highly recommend!

I cannot imagine the time involved with organizing and sorting. To say it's impressive is a huge understatement! My son found a few records he'd been searching for, and I bought quite a few. Prices were more than fair and we were given a generous discount at time of purchase. It was fascinating to see so much out there that was new to me. Who knew? There's definitely something here for everyone, but without a doubt our highlight was in meeting the man behind this incredible music store, Ron. It's clear to see his passion for music, and I don't believe there will ever be another place like the one he's created. We spent 4hr flipping through records, and Ron offered to check inventory for anything specific we were unable to find. I was shocked he was able to electronically file this amount of inventory, especially when he knew he had one copy, not yet properly placed on the floor, of a record I wanted. He helped search and kept telling me "if it says I have one, I have one." I finally gave up and told him I'll leave it in God's hands. Five seconds later, Ron shouts "look what I found!" He got a giant hug from me and I told him he's My Hero. (He laughed and said it was luck.) There aren't enough people like Ron left in this world, and if you don't get out and meet him I can assure you it's your loss. I bought everything from Sinatra to Night Ranger and I praise Ron again for finding the Bryan Adams album I had my heart set on finding. I've got two sons with me today and we're currently taking the hour drive out to visit Ron and hopefully buy some records. I've told everyone I know about this amazing place and the man that left me smiling. My mom reminded me people aren't around forever, and said I'd better get out to see him again or I'll regret it because he sounds like a TRUE GEM. GO. BE IN AWE OF THE SHEER VOLUME. SEARCH.FIND.BUY. BE SURE TO TALK WITH RON. HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME, THEN TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO GIVE THIS MAN THEIR BUISNESS.

This review is about my experience, plus constructive feedback that can be used to make this shop…read morebetter. While I love digging through the stacks at local record shops, I have experienced much better. I've been through quite a number of fantastic record stores in my lifetime, so I have expectations on how a record store should be (even for smaller and newer shops that may just be starting out). I root for local record stores and encourage them to do their best. I've been here, Record Swap, and Exile, and I find Record Swap is the best one. Let me start off by saying I did leave with the purchase of two records today. The shop wasn't terrible, but I do think it was lacking a bit. I understand building up a quality stock takes time, but given the amount of time this store had been around, I expected just a little more. Some selections are spot on with the prices, while other selections aren't worth the $5+ as they look like they've been pulled from thrift stores and $1 bins elsewhere. The layout of the store was decent for the size space, but how the stock was "organized" was honestly a bit of a choppy mess. For the size store, I'd honestly shrink down the "new arrivals" spot significantly and put the items where they're supposed to go. This will make browsing so much smoother (only bring in a bigger new arrivals spot when you've got much more merchandise coming in). Do away with the boards you've got taking up a wall. You may have a passion about them, but they don't belong in a record store, nor will people use Google to look you up if they're in the market for a board... it's just not expected to be found in that type of store. Use that space for more music merchandise, which is expected to be found in this store. Move your cash register to the bar that was built into the spot. This makes the extra merchandise ready for sale behind bar moved to another spot and easier to get to. These are just some of the key changes that could made to make this shop 100x better, instead of adding injury to your name, and will help you take off.
