I am from Colorado and flew to Asheville to do a ride with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time. I could not get my bike box on the plane at the airport because of the size of the plane and showed up in Asheville, no bike, no helmet, no shoes. Matt helped me rent a bike for the ride and get some shoes and a helmet. He set me up and got everything dialed in. When I came back to see if they could change the tires to more XC oriented, Matt took the tires off his bike and put them onto the rental! Literally took the tires off his personal bike. amazing. I had a time conflict for departure and he met us on Sunday night to get the bike returned. By far the best experience I have ever had with a bike shop. We took our son's bike in to be repaired. The employee told us that it would cost $50.00 to fix. It took 7 weeks for the repair to be completed. We called several times for an update and were told they were having difficulty getting the part they needed due to Covid (ok, understandable). When we finally got the word that the bike was ready, it cost $119! YIKES, that is a lot more than they quoted us. They never contacted us to ask if it was OK to make the additional repairs. UPDATE: after speaking with a representative on the phone, I feel my concerns were heard. Communication is key! I hope no one else experiences sticker shock upon picking up their bike!! BTW- I'm confident the repairs were done correctly and our son is thrilled with his bike! read more

Rented a mountain bike here for the day, they have extremely nice full suspension mountain bikes for rent and helmets! Several other places I checked did not have helmets. Youngblood and his boys care about my safety so they hooked me up with a nice helmet. Price was similar to all other places but the bikes were way nicer. Was there to rent a bike for my out of town brother. Easy bike rental, it was a nice Canondale that they quickly put flats on as he didn't have his shoes with him. Knowledgable friendly staff. What impressed me the most is a mom and daughter were in there getting the little girl's bike fixed. The guy fixed it and then refused payment. TL;DR Ripoff high-end bike shop that tried to sell me a new bike when I needed $20 in repairs I went in to get the front wheel of my girlfriend's bike fixed on a weekday evening. They were really nice at first. They held the door open for me and told me they could fix it up - something like $15-20 to fix the wheel and $10 to adjust the brakes. I agreed, and since it was end of day, they told me they'd get to it first thing the next morning. At that time, I explained everything. The wheel was bent, it was missing two spokes (nipples bent, too), and the brakes were loose & needed to be adjusted. They looked at it and said it should be no problem. I gave them my info and left with the peace of mind that I wouldn't be spending all week on my girlfriend's bike. I was wrong. Optimistically, I thought maybe I can pick it up on my lunch break. I call back mid-afternoon to check on it. Store has been open 4 hours at this point - "I haven't started on it yet, but your bike is up next. We should be able to get to it this evening." I thought, okay - let's give them another chance. I can pick it up when I get off work. I show up at the store a little after 5pm, and four employees are standing behind the counter chit-chatting. I walk up to my girlfriend's bike, which has a tag on it. Relieved, I say, "Aha! Here it is! How much do I owe ya?" One employee goes, "Oh, THAT'S your bike?... *grins followed by grimaces* "I was just about to call you. We can't fix that." "What do you mean? Was there something else wrong with it?" "Well, look at the wheel. It's too bent, and it's missing two spokes. We can't do that." Okay, so I had gone over all of this and had someone look at it when I dropped it off, but they made me wait a day and didn't communicate what was going on until I showed up. Well, this is bad news. Maybe they'll at least give me their honest opinion about the bike. Nope. They tell me I should replace the wheel. Okay (if you think it's that messed up), I ask how much will that run me? $60!!! And $20 for labor?!?! We paid $110 for this bike (it's no Rolls-Royce), and now you want us to pay $80 for a front wheel? Replacing a front wheel is not labor intensive. For this bike, you unscrew both sides and open the brakes. Presto! $20 is easy money for Youngblood. They call that labor? I felt disrespected by their lack of communication and deflated by their opinion that my bike was basically totalled. Okay, I'm not going to quit. I'm not done fixing this bike. I took it to the DIY bike repair shop behind French Broad Food Co-op the next day, and the volunteer/work-trade worker Zoe helped me and taught me how to add new spokes and nipples to the wheel and adjust the spokes to make it straight again! One hour of my time that cost me practically nothing. Wheel was good as new (or as good as when we bought it used). I went to Hearn's to get the brakes adjusted for $10 after that. I was blown away by how much Youngblood was trying to rip me off! How many others have trusted their "expertise" and gone along with this boutique's charade of being a respectable bike repair shop. So for $20 in labor costs and a little bit of common decency from other establishments in Asheville, I wiggled myself out of paying $80 for a new wheel. I will never return to Youngblood. I don't care if the staff is friendly. I don't care if they sell really nice equipment or fancy parts. They wasted plenty of my time and tried to trick me into spending 4 times what we needed. Educate yourself about your bike (try the DIY shop behind the Food Co-op when it's open) or find a bike repair shop that doesn't take advantage of noobs and casual riders! If you want to pay a lot extra for some friendly faces squeezing you for every penny and upselling you at every opportunity - Youngblood is for you! read more

Great bike shop - fantastic experience! I rented a high-end road bike for a 3-day weekend of riding the Blue Ridge Parkway. I was in town from Chicago and had sent my measurements over email. Chad had the bike set up perfectly. He suggested a few different routes based on what I was looking for, which worked out perfectly. Chad was very accommodating on my return, given I was heading home on a day his shop was closed.
