Flavia was so different from everything I had experienced. She equipped me with the skills to actually understand my body and move it in the way that it was meant to. Instead of being prescriptive, her practice is incredibly restorative. For the first time I felt my body relaxing and learned to use my muscles properly. I have taken a few Pilates classes before and for some reason, I have never really found it to be my group exercise of choice. And here is the reason. I think Pilates focuses way too much on just the core. And while we had a really good instructor, she was clear and gave good instruction, I found myself bored by the end of 30 minutes. There is only so many different ways to do abdominal crunches. I would be willing to come by the actual studio and take a class, but I think I will pass on the Pilates and go for the yoga classes instead. What I will say is this. The next morning, my abs definitely knew it had worked out the previous day, so that was a good feeling. I only wished that the rest of my body hurt so good like my abs...

Alluem has been my mental/emotional haven since I started here. As a grad student doing her…read morerotations, life is hectic and time for my mental/emotional growth is limited. I have fought to make sure I am here at least a few times a week, and I am grateful every time I am able to follow through for myself. Because of my erratic schedule, I am likely to show up at any class time which means that I have seen/experienced a number of different instructors for different class levels, and I have enjoyed each and every one. Every one has been kind and helpful and extremely patient. When you walk in, you are greeted at the door by whoever is working the desk for that shift. The vibe is relaxed and mellow and you just feel like you're in a safe space, which is so necessary sometimes. There are cubbies on the left to leave your personal belongings and shoes, and then you can enter into the actual studio. There are mats, blocks, towels, blankets, etc. for you to use so you never have to feel unprepared and you are always able to have a full experience. And if ever you cannot make it in person, they have virtual classes available, as well. Overall, thankful to having found this place and looking forward to utilizing my membership as much as I can. Only thing I will warn about is the parking. Sometimes, it can get crowded/tight, but there is plenty of street parking available in case you want to avoid that. Otherwise, I recommend you check it out and see what they have to offer. :)
