I am appalled at how Guelph-Kitchener You Move Me moving company has treated me as a good paying customer. You Move Me has been unwilling to take responsibility for extensive damage to my property caused by its employees, plus endorsed its employees' actions of having opened and searched through my baggage and purses without my knowledge or consent. I feel compelled to share with other consumers my horrific experience with this company. I hired Guelph-Kitchener You Move Me for a recent move, for which I was charged almost $4,000.00. The movers caused damage to all four new appliances--plus irreparable damage to valuable and irreplaceable furniture they failed to package or protect. The movers concealed the damage, except that to one appliance they could not hide. The owner-manager then promised to either professionally repair or replace that appliance--but failed to do so. I soon spotted the additional damage the movers had hidden and left for me to discover. I immediately contacted the owner-manager of Guelph-Kitchener You Move Me, and provided photographs of the damage. He replied by acknowledging the damage his employees caused, but then failed to respond to my many subsequent attempts to resolve the matter. I wish I had instead hired a professional, competent, and insured moving company for my short move, and avoided the horrific and costly experience I have had with Guelph-Kitchener You Move Me. I highly recommend this company. The movers were on time, efficient and very polite. Never have I witness 5 hard working young, men who moved us on humid days, but did so without complaint. I especially want to thank The Owner, Harold and his son Nick, for going above and beyond in keeping the cost within budget. We had a difficult time with a split move do to problems with the seller of our new home which resulted in rearranging truck scheduling for Harold. Instead of taking advantage of this and charging us more money he and his son bent over backwards to keep the cost in line with the original estimate. I have had five moves in the last 12 years and suffered the usual problems of late trucks, lost and broken items, and movers with more muscle than brains. This last move with You Move Me was perfect. The movers arrived right on time in a large clean truck that held a houseful of furnishings. I have a large art collection and they packed this expensive cargo carefully, and then unpacked each painting for me. I marvelled at how well they maneuvered large pieces of furniture that could not fit in the elevator and carried them up several flights of stairs with expertise and care. When I realized one large sofa would not fit into the doorway of my new home they brought it back down the stairs and drove me back to my old house to store it there. This was very thoughtful! The two men who did the move were pleasant, smart, experienced and very conscientious. I find this ridiculous. You were hired and paid a large amount of money to move someone from one house to another! They broke things. caused damage, lost items and you refuse to even pick up the phone or answer an email! You came out and inspected the amount of belongings so that you could hire the appropriate amount of movers and the right truck size! I just finished reading a review that was also pretty bad! You obviously do not care that this will ruin your reputation and cost you customers. All you needed to do was have everything fixed, replaced and paid for. This never happened. You will not even answer!! It is your responsibility and now you must pay!! read more

Avoid this unprofessional crew: My parents have been waiting 2 months for a resolution to damages caused by this company to their belongings. While the representative/manager met with them and noted the damaged items, he is now ghosting them - not returning phone calls - despite promising repairs to several items. read more

Three young men worked solidly for over 9 hours with only a brief lunch break, nearer to 2pm. to move my wife and myself. They arrived on time, were polite, friendly, and showed good skills, in wrapping and boxing crystal and delicate items. (We were "downsizing", mostly unsucessfuly) so had lots of stuff, even tho we had 2 garage sales. Their handling of our beds, dining room and living room items was excellent, as they had to take apart just about every item, then reassemble at our new place. Worst moving experience ever. Have made four inter-national moves and numerous intercity and intracity moves and this is the one I would like to forget. We went with You Move Me because their quote was lower than competitors. We Moved a lot ourselves with numerous van/suv's and trailer loads thanks to great friends and also a uhaul truck rental one day. Didn't much matter because the final bill was higher even though we had moved most of the boxes and a ton of furniture ourselves. We had been told that the price from the original estimate would come down the more we moved, but that was not the case. A Decorative piece on one headboard fell off during the move but they never mentioned it. When making the bed, I found the piece behind the headboard on the floor. Just today my husband (who has been busy working on emptying boxes in the basement so the furniture can be arranged), discovered a leg missing from one of the sofas. But none of the movers thought to mention that they had lost it In the move! They were ready to leave and I mentioned to my husband that they had not put together our sons bed. They had taken apart a queen bed and a full bed and had put all the pieces together in one pile- we made them sort out which pieces went with what and set up the full before they left. After they left, we went to make our bed on the main floor and discovered numerous boxes and luggage piled on top of it. All was labelled basement but they just couldn't be bothered carrying it down the stairs. My husband told them also that if there was any question about anything as to where it belonged or it was unlabelled, ask or just take it down the basement since that's where we were storing everything. But either they were lazy or couldn't read because clearly labelled items for the basement ended up on our bed. What mover ever unloads boxes on a clients bed? Upon return to our home that we were moving out of, we found a whole storage area that had been left - my husband had walked through with the team leader and pointed out everything that was to go and showed him the storage area, but since the movers did not have a clipboard with a check list of all that was to go, I guess that's why it was forgotten. So we had to call up one of our good friends again with their trailer and loaded up 2 cars, a trailer and our van for yet another trip to our new town 1/2 hour away. They left in their wake Numerous dings on wooden floors(saw them dragging furniture rather than carrying it) and scrapes and gouges on many walls. There was little respect for our possessions and home and no pride in workmanship. No carpet cover runner was ever used to protect floors. A few days later we had a hot water heater delivered. The men put down and a runner sheet over our stairs going down to the basement and it reinforced that that was something that was definitely lacking in the care for our property from you move me. My husband has been in contact with this company and also head office in regards to our legitimate grievances. We requested a 15% refund ( about $250.) in lieu of damages,. items left behind at the old house and the work we had to do to move items to their labelled respective areas in the new home - but that was never offered. They did offer to come and clean our carpeted basement stairs and to look at the damage on the walls and wood floors. My husband reinforced repeatedly that there was no point in them coming to clean the carpet until they could verify that they would Scotchgard over the cleaning. That request was also ignored. We have cleaned carpets before and know the value of reapplying Scotchgard or a similar product after the cleaning, otherwise you end up with dirty carpets in a very short time again- in reality it doesn't take long for them to look worse than the original. So they have cancelled all negotiations at this point and we are in dispute with the final bill We would never ever tell anyone to use this company. Protect your belongings and your piece of mind and use someone else. If you do use them, hope and pray you never have a problem that you have to work out with them after the move. Customer service at its worst. I give them one star for showing up on time. read more
