Stopped by here after a camping trip from Bass Lake to look for stickers. There were about 4 different types of stickers and the rest were mostly Yosemite souvenirs. The place was a nice stop and the staff was one of the nicest ones we encountered during the trip. Store was nicely laid out and it was pretty relaxing just shopping around and discovering cool finds. We also got a guitar pick with Bass Lake written on it and I find it pretty cool. We visited this shop about six months ago during one of our regular visits to Oakhurst and absolutely loved it! We met one of the owners, Ahmad, and he made us feel right at home and even told us a the background behind some of the items we were interested in buying, including the Navajo sand art magnets and some of the hand carved bears. He was so great and definitely made us fall in love with this shop. We returned to Oakhurst for our winter visit and knew we had to return! During this visit, we met the other owner, Jamal. He made us feel just as much at home as Ahmad. He gave us the story on the maple syrup we wanted to purchase. If you are visiting Oakhurst, I would definitely recommend stopping here! My husband and I stopped by Yosemite Falls Trading Post on our way out of Yosemite to grab some souvenirs for ourselves and our family--and we're so glad we did! Based on photos and its location near our hotel (and right next to an ice cream shop), it seemed like the perfect stop, and it absolutely was. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Jamal, who was incredibly friendly and eager to help. I was looking for a specific sweater I had seen online, but Jamal suggested an even better one--and I ended up falling in love with it! He had such great recommendations, not just for items in the store, but also for things to do in the area. We ended up chatting for quite a while, and he even suggested we check out Bass Lake--which we did--and it was stunning! To top it all off, Jamal treated us to ice cream next door (delicious!) and even let us sample some tasty honey. His hospitality, warmth, and helpfulness truly made our experience memorable. This place is a must stop shop for anyone visiting Yosemite. It has everything that you could possibly need for souvenirs whether it's for the wife with their amazing collection of jewelry or for the husband looking for unique and rare knives for daily use and or collection. The same can be said for the kids. Plenty of toys and other small gifts for friends or family. During my time there, Ahmad the stores primary manager took care of my girlfriend and I with educating us on the craftsmanship of the each knife and piece of jewelry that had in their stock. I have never felt so welcome and appreciated by a shop owner as when I walked into the Yosemite Falls Trading Post and was welcomed by Ahmed. He pointed out what was on sale and what the regular priced shirts were priced at. He helped me select an awesome walking stick for my husband, pointed out jewelry that was handmade by the Navajos and so much more. I had been recommended to go to this gift shop by 2 other gift shops in town! By far this souvenir store has the greatest selection of t-shirts and hoodies for Yosemite and even some for Bass Lake. Coming out of Yosemite down to Oakhurst, we'd promised the kids ice cream. We stopped on the north side of Oakhurst at a candy shop. Attached to it was the trading post. The owner was very nice and conversational- not pushy towards his inventory but getting to know the people that walked through his doors. After perusing the shop with our kids, we settled on some national park stickers. There were many useful goods (umbrellas, stocking caps,etc), souvenirs (postcards, Yosemite T-shirts), road-trip items (car games, kid stuff) and some finer items like geodes and jewelry. Prices seemed appropriate to the area shops and actually some were cheaper than similar items offered for sale in the candy shop next door. I'd found a sticker that'd reminded me my home state... I explained it to the owner and he quickly directed me to a pile of small state stickers and helped me find it, offering them 'on the house' because it was the holidays and I'd chosen small items. This is a shop that is newer to the area and we were happy to pay for our goods in support of small business. Four starts because it's starting out and over all displaying of items could be rearranged (T-shirt area, kids corner, games and road-trip goods, decorative items, etc). Stop in. Grab a treat next door and stop in to grab a tangible memory of your trip to Mariposa County/Yosemite! read more
