Camp 51 shot heading North East
Andrew B.

**Do help us keep our Parks Nice and Staffed** http://www.nationalparks.org/ Hello, My name is Andrew Blash and this was my Home for 2 months in the year of 2014. 1) DIstance from the Main Road Coming off Tioga Rd = 5.5 miles 2) Camp is 50 yards East of White Wolf. 3) Road is bumpy do not attempt RV's down here - risky! The camp is for tents mostly 4) Campground has 76 camps, nice sized ones 5) The Camp is 300 yards long and the Yosemite Creek Runs through it. 6) No showers, 7) No Power 8) Pit toilets 9) This camp is 7, 300 feet and will get cold at the end of the season: bring good gear. 10) YES there are BEARS here: Store you Food in the bear box ------------------------Valley is 1:20 from here going West ----------------------- Tuolumne Meadows is 40 minutes off going East ** First Come First Served campground (HOW TO) 1) Never show up at 11PM from Thursday to Sunday in High Summer 99% Chance it is full. and Everyone is Asleep ---no way to barter or do anything 2) Come in the morning or later and then see if people are leaving: you actually have to get of your car to do this well and talk to people! 3) If it is full, see if there is a single person you can get along with or say 2 people of your background or you agree with -- then you need to Grease the Wheel: Offer to pay for the campground, or beer food.....well work! You usually only need one night to find camp in the morning - people come and go all the time. 4) look for the magic, ask think and look. 5) Make sure you have back up plan 6) Never drive is you are so tired you can't see: sleep in the car away from others ****Juicy.Van Campers*** You must leave food in the bear box, or a chair or tent down: camping slips go missing often: avoid losing your campground and put some property down! The GOOD STUFF: ---Camp 51, has the water hole but no one owns that hole so you will get company - lots of it. --Camp 74, 11, 45 - Lovers dens or family happy place but all campgrounds are large ***Walking the Trails: 1) 5 hours on a good hike will get you all the way down to the valley. From there you can go to the ----Visitors Center and at 5PM pick up the YARTS bus going to Mammoth Yarts Bus Link: http://yarts.com/ 2) Ask for A courtesy stop at Yosemite Creek Picnic Area not the MAIN ENTRANCE -------why: it is only 1.7 miles back to the camp from this trailhead or the backdoor into the camp, nice hike, too! Also out the backdoor of Yosemite Creek is_ the Ten Lakes hike You will love the Silence for it so quiet there you will hear your own heartbeat the world stops;;; BRING A REAL MAP - Never Play with Junk MAPS GO to the WIlderness Center ***Emergencies**** WHITE WOLF HAS A RANGER STATION and NPS Employees ---------------------------Sometimes the Pay Phone Works down there, insure you have the Yosemite Number For Rangers
