My father has started kidney dialysis and has to go three days/nights a week for 4.5 hrs. I decided to help mom out and visit with dad during this time, to support him and keep him company. The space is quite large with about 20 chairs/lounges. Each equipped to filter the blood over a 4 hour process. I was surprised that every chair was used and this was the third session of the day. They do this everyday, obviously. The staff/nurses were great and very friendly and respond quickly throughout the session to the pings of the machines and always willing to answer questions from the patients and guests. It does make it a bit easier knowing my dad is in good hands. The process is quite intense and hard to believe my dad and all those in the room have to go through this 2-3+ times a week. Wow. We learned that visitation is actually only allowed for 1 hours during the process. Which sames like a bummer, but considering that they need to manage the blood pressure of the patients while the machine is filtering the blood, it makes sense that the patient lay quiet and comfortable, while listening to music or watching tv. My family will be going on vacation and they are setting it up so he does not have to go all the way back to Biddeford for a session. That is so helpful. Thanks read more
