(The DPC model seems to suck all of the best care providers out of the "traditional healthcare" model and gather them in one place. Love it.) Later in 2025, last Sunday, I reached out on a weekend with a pretty routine question. It wasn't urgent, but he responded within 2 hours at 9 PM on a weekend. In a world of terrible customer service, that just blew my mind. Three cheers for Dr Scott and HSDPC. When service is this good, why would anyone ever go back to a regular* Doctor? *insurance company contractor who doesn't work for the patient

What she promised: "A master's degree in your own personal biology"…read more What she delivered: Exactly that. Most doctors are invested in sickcare, not healthcare. Why? Simple: because a patient for life is far more profitable than a patient healed. Follow the money. There are a lot of root causes to this (private equity takeover, Fiat currency, big Pharma, BUCAH) but probably the biggest is the health insurance cartel. The easiest way to spot a good doctor in 2026? Ask "Do you take insurance?" If they say yes, no matter how nice they are and no matter how Hypocratically they approach medicine, it is essential to remember that they are CONTRACTORS and work for the insurance companies, not for their patients. It's an ugly system. Most doctors stuck in it are captives not willing participants. The best ones, however, escape. (By the way, the best patients do too. Check out CrowdHealth) Dr. Brooke and others like her breaking out. Cash pay. No insurance. The incentives are aligned: "I am here to cure Matt, not to get Matt on three prescriptions and semi annual visits for life as his health declines slowly." (And profiting the whole way down.) We went over 100 biomarkers, got a genetics test, a Tiny Health gut test, synthesized it all, and built a plan mapped for ME and my blood, my body and my gut. She's a master of her craft. Dr. Lynch came in the room already seeming angry and committed to misunderstanding me. She got ALL the details I had shared with the nurse WRONG, including medications I was on for the issue and what had worked in the past. When I gently and respectfully tried to correct her, she quickly spoke over me and began to lecture me on how this was an "urgent care for urgent issues" (umm ya pretty sure deep cough, lung pain, and nausea is urgent) and that I just needed to wait and call my ENT or go to the ER. Then when I became frustrated and finally (for once) stood up for myself and told her she wasn't listening to me, she went off about how she was "practicing good American medicine blah blah blah"....I have never been so handily dismissed and it was the only time in my life I have actually walked out of a doctor's appt. It was horrible and I cried the whole way home. She also stated in her notes that she offered me a steroid inhaler which she did NOT. Why lie about that?! My experience was very much like the other negative one written here about her. If you're considering going, I would definitely call ahead and ask which Dr or Physician Assistant is seeing patients that day and go somewhere else if it's her. You'll thank me.

I have been a patient of Ed Glaesner's for 17 years and unfortunately he has just left this…read morepractice and will become a traveling FNP. He has been a light for me in all of my medical woah's. I have A LOT of autoimmune disease and too many other medical issues to name. Doctors see me coming and don't prefer to see me as a patient because it can be overwhelming. Ed has always been happy to learn with me, where my autoimmune issues are concerned. A new person has come into the practice and has taken over for him, Corrine and all I can say is that there's going to be a huge problem with her, with the patients that have been seen by Ed. I requested a refill of estrogen, which I've been on for 17 (seventeen) years. She will NOT send in a new prescription for me because, even though I've been on it for 17 years, it may not be appropriate for me now."supposedly" AKA come in and see me and spend money you don't have, so I can make money for UNC and then I'll send in a prescription for you..... Ed Glaesner FNP gets 10/10 stars and I will miss him so very much. Now though, this practice I think, is not going to offer me much to stay loyal to them. If this new doctor/PA or whatever is any indication of what's to come, it's not good. I'd suggest running while you can. I was going to transfer care to Dr Nathaniel Weber, as he is very similar to Ed, but not sure that it's worth staying with an affiliated hospital like UNC who puts money over patient care and how many patients a practitioner can see in a day, than to help the patient themselves. Ed used to get a lot of shiz because he took the time his patients needed to make sure they were good with their medical issues. Finding someone like him is very difficult. I wish he could open his own practice and I have NO doubt that he'd be full on patients as he has been for the 17 years I've been with him. I started seeing him in 2007 at one practice and followed him to his two other locations he moved to. I even drove from Virginia when I lived there, just to keep him as my doctor. Ed, you will be sorely missed. UNC Family Medicine Fuquay Varina 1 out of 5 stars Ed Glaesner FNP 10 out of 10 stars Also, my entire family of six people were patients of Ed. Now that he is gone, this practice will lose six patients. It may not be much to a company like UNC, but at 200.00 a visit times six, that's 1200.00 for visits and isn't just change. It's too bad that this company couldn't do something to keep Ed as a FNP with them. He has had a loyal following of patients and is ALWAYS closed off to incoming new patients because all of his current patients are loyal to him. UNC should do some research into practitioners like him and make certain concessions for those doctors which clearly have a loyal following. Ed was required to see so many patients that even when he would take vacation time, aka, time that he should have "off" from work to relax, he was still too busy working because of the way UNC runs their practice. Apparently, after a doctor visit, UNC sends an email to patients that enable them to send emails to the doctor they just saw. This then causes the doctors email box to become inundated with useless emails that shouldn't be there in the first place and doesn't allow for patients that really need help, to get through to the doctor. UNC needs to do better. They need to make sure to keep the best practitioners within their network and not let them go.
