We hired Yonzon Photography to take family photos last fall, and I cannot recommend Mel and Emir highly enough. Between the two of them they not only wrangled an extended family of eight through several locations, but actually had us enjoying ourselves all afternoon. (We're a somewhat self-conscious and picture-averse crowd, so that's really saying something.) But beyond being fun to be with, Mel and Emir are really, REALLY good at their job. They know the light and angles and how to keep their subjects genuinely engaged, and it really shows in the final product. The photos we got from the shoot are fabulous, and each of us has one or more of the pictures from this shoot hanging in our homes. The day of the shoot went very smoothly - Mel and Emir had done their homework and scouted several locations in a large park and already had some great ideas about where to pose us and what pictures would work for us. But they weren't tied to a specific plan, and were happy to roll with situations as they arose. The result was a great mixture of photos - a ton of wonderful and unique family photos (including their signature "mustache" shot!) mixed with beautiful pictures of spontaneous moments that came up over the course of the day. Mel got a picture of my parents smiling and laughing that is hands-down my favorite picture of them ever, and any other photographer would have missed that moment entirely. All in all, the folks at Yonzon Photography are incredibly professional and thorough while being an absolute blast to spend an hour or two with. I have had 2 session of head shots with Yonzon Photography. I worked solely with Mel on the first one. The first session of head shots were my first time having any professional photos done. Mel made me feel so comfortable when I first met her. Mel is super funny,sweet, bubbly and an intriguing character and I believe that shows in her photography. The love for photography shows in her work. It is the person behind the camera that can make you standout and make you look your best. I had a blast and would definitely do it again. Then I had my second head shots done when I changed my hair color. We did this shoot in the most beautiful park, Balboa Park. This time it was with Mel and Emir. I could not be more happy with the experience and pictures from Yonzon Photography! It's very odd that being an actor, I actually hate having my headshots taken. But that is absolutely not the case with Mel. From booking through to getting the pictures, it was an easy process. She was able to fit me in for a last minute session, and gave me a disk with pictures for me in under a week. The session was perfect. I wanted to get some senior photos to share before I graduated high school and I have to say that it was phenomenal to have Mel shoot this for me and my friend, Wanda. Even though I can be somewhat shy, Mel knew how to make us feel very relaxed and comfortable. She has a fun and easy going personality but stays professional! Thanks Mel!
