My family decided that we would eat ice cream for dinner, and the kids chose Yogurt Mountain (I know, be jealous, I was voted mom of the year two times in a row ) We love the topping selection here, and the fruits are always fresh. This is my favorite frozen yogurt place in Tuscaloosa. The only reason why I'm taking off two stars is because all of the toppings are usually empty by 3 PM which is kind of ridiculous because they open at 11. Since it's a dessert place, I feel like they should be able to restock throughout The afternoon from 11 to the time they close which is around 8-9. The health department needs to inspect this place on a regular basis. My wife and I both became ill after eating "frozen yogurt" at this dump. There is filth everywhere you look, the dispensing machines look like they haven't been cleaned in days, and the toppings were gross and appeared to have been left out all night! I used to frequent this place during my undergrad years in Tuscaloosa. Since earning my bachelor's degree, I hadn't been here in years. And now I know why. The atmosphere of this shop has gone down. There weren't many yogurt flavors available and many empty dispensers. The one flavor dispenser that did catch my eye sent me out the door, with no froyo in tow when I saw a hair chilling on the dispenser. Yuck! read more

Yogurt Mountain has TERRIBLE service!! The employees all seem to hate their job. I come in usually an hour before closing and every-time the employees already start to close the place up. Half the toppings are put away, half the machines are turned off, all the sauces are away, chairs and tables put up. 45 MIN BEFORE CLOSING. Ridiculous. Not to mention how expensive yogurt is. I have tried to go to this establishment many times and they always close early. Yelp says they close at 10, google says they close at 9, but every time I have gone, they close at 8... i prefer fro yo over regular ice cream and it is hard to get it when they don't stick to a time frame. The actual product itself is fantastic, however... the customer service is horrible. The large female with 3 inch eye lashes is the rudest person I've ever encountered. She screamed at me like a banshee "CASH OR CARD" I couldn't help but say "Jesus can you be nicer". Unfortunately the Tuscalossa location is steadily declining in quality and service. The last several times my family has been there, several machines were inoperable. Of the ones that supposedly had flavors, 3 of them were out and one was a soupy mess. The floor was filthy and covered with a sticky liquid. The service and the maintenance of the restaurant was fantastic. The employees were friendly. Even as crowds of crazy children attacked the condiments area, the employees were persistent in keeping the area clean. That being said, the flavors I sampled and eventually purchased in the end were not good. Vanilla bean tasted more like vanilla than the custard did. Even the birthday cake flavor had a texture that was a little frozen. The strawberry topping was nicely cut and fresh. The blueberry toppings were stale and chewy. How do you get blueberries to do that? I couldn't finish it. read more

Went here while on vacation and was told by friends it's a good place for the sweet tooth. Pretty much thought it was like a DQ but I was pretty excited it wasn't. So much to choose from between the flavors and toppings! You're literally like a kid in a candy store just making whatever crazy concoction you can think of. It does go by price of the weight though so be careful on that. I'll definitely be going back again before we leave, just wish there was one in my town. read more

The store itself was clean and well maintained. The yogurt and toppings were in good supply and not lacking in freshness. The only hang up I had at this particular yogurt Mountain was the the service itself was not all that great. The two employees working tonight seemed less than friendly and did not seem very happy to be there. Even when my friend and I tried to be friendly towards them we received an unwelcoming attitude to which I did not think we deserved. I even went back for a second cup and the Young ladies attitude had yet to improve. A large group of what seemed to be sorority girls came in and it was as if her attitude did a complete 180. A lot of choices. The yogurt is not watery or runny. You have to endure some bratty loud college girls but the place itself is very nice.

When I lived in Alabama I used to force people to go to Yogurt Mountain with me when we were in Tuscaloosa. It's soooo yummy, there are a TON of delicious options for the yogurts (red velvet, chocolate peanut butter, and lots of fruity flavors, too) and toppings (fruits and candies, and things like hot fudge, etc). The whole self-serve thing is just plain fun and it's cool to mix things up. If they ever franchise up north, I'll be the first in line!!!!!! read more
