Sometimes when you really wish for something, it's surprising when it actually comes true!…read more I was hoping for a hot yoga studio to pop up in Putney for years. Not that I mind going up to Parsons Green or Clapham but it's so much nicer it is just down the road. This studio focuses on hot power yoga so if you're thinking Bikram, it's quite different. It's more of a vinyasa flow class in a hot room - and only goes up to about 30 degrees so it isn't actually that hot compared to bikram studios. The classes flow quite nicely and provide options for the real newbie and the experienced yogi. My favorite instructor is Alex. They also run workshops and retreats as well. There is a 2 week £20 intro offer if you want to give it a try. The studio is really nice especially if you take a class in the day time as there are several sky lights to get plenty of natural light in. I haven't used the changing room or showers but you can have a sneak peak on their website if you're curious. You can leave your gear at reception or bring in phones/wallets into the studio as there are little cubbies. Namaste!

I have only been to one, but bought their amazing beginners package and will be back as many times as I can get there in the next 30 days. I'll check back to update as to what more I learn. So far, a good first impression!

Extremely disappointed!…read more I was visiting London from the States and I was so excited to find the power yoga company on yelp. It was just a few train stops away from my hotel. So I grabbed my ID, Oyster card, and some cash and ran out the door on my last day in London to take class. They don't take cash (didn't see that on their site and I'd been to a few sites that stressed they only take cash). I explained to the desk girl and a teacher that I didn't bring my cards and I was leaving London early tomorrow morning and was really looking forward to a class. They just kept repeating "sorry we don't take cash." Seriously? That was all they had to offer was "we don't take cash." I offered to pay the exact amount, just in case they don't have change - Nope. I suggested maybe I give one of them the cash and if they could buy class for me - NOPE. What great karma practice on their end - NOT! I'm a yoga teacher in DC at a very popular yoga studio. We often get visitors from other countries and other states, students who have forgotten wallets and didn't realize they were out of classes, students who really NEED some yoga or were looking forward to yoga that day. You know what we do? We let them in for free! It's really not that difficult. And I wasn't even asking for free yoga! I had money. Exact change and they refused to take it. They should review their best practice for rare situations like this. Because the way this was handled by two staff members was ridiculous. I considered going back with my card but why bother? They clearly do not have a Karma practice. And I can't believe that they are leading teacher training programs! Horrible!

I've been here 4 times now, attending classes with a different instructor each time, and have tried…read morethe Level 1, All Levels, and Flow and Restore classes thus far. Two of my visits have been on weekday evenings; the Flow and Restore was a Sunday evening, and I took 1 class on a Sunday morning at 8 AM (1st class of the day). I've enjoyed all the classes I've taken so far, and would definitely come back regularly. My favorite class has been the All Levels class, which I've attended twice. It definitely helps to have yoga experience beforehand, as this class goes pretty quickly and an explanation of what the poses are tends to be cursory but not super descriptive. I found that I got a very satisfying and sweaty workout from this class, and it was easy to adapt or make adjustments based on your personal level of practice. In contrast, the Level 1 class was definitely more suited for beginners, since the instructor made sure to describe and show each pose, and the class moved at a slower pace. All of the instructors I've had so far have been nice and good about making corrections in a constructive but unobtrusive way. Three of the classes I've taken have been in the downstairs studio, which is larger. The Level 1 class I took was in the upstairs studio, which was smaller. I believe that class also had a limited number of spots and the mats were all laid out for us when we arrived (in the downstairs studio you get and set up your mats/blocks yourself). The mats were really close together and I was always knocking into the person next to me, or the wall (I was at the end of a row of mats), which detracted from my experience a bit. I probably won't take the Level 1 class again, but I really liked the other classes I took in the downstairs studio. The changing rooms are nice and pretty clean; I think the floors are heated, which is nice. There are hooks from which to hang bags/coats but you leave your valuables at the front desk, where they give you a cubby # for when you come back to collect them. There is also 1 sink and a couple of showers in the ladies' changing room (can't speak for the men's). The changing rooms have fewer amenities than I've seen at the American studios I've been to, but they're definitely serviceable and welcoming (and I never used many of the amenities at my American studios anyway). Mats and blocks are provided, as well as washcloths and cleaning spray with which to wipe down the mats at the end of class. Even when attending class in the larger downstairs studio, I would recommend arriving early because the classes are pretty popular and floor space fills up fast. I usually arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled class time but I've never been the 1st one there. When attending the 8 AM Sunday morning class, the studio was open at 7:45, although the reception desk was unmanned for a few minutes after 7:45 since the staff was setting up. This is a great studio to practice at, with a good range of instructors. You can definitely get a good workout from the All Levels class or a good introduction from the Level 1 class.

A colleague of mine then recommended I visit The London Gym and see what I think so I went to take a look. My initial goal was to lose around two stone I had put on since turning 30 (a little while back now) and to coincide the weight loss with a holiday to South Africa. If I am honest, I didn't think it was a realistic goal as I had attempted it in the past and the weight simply didn't reduce to the extent I wanted which was really disappointing. I was working out, putting hours into my gym sessions but really poor results. I signed up and had to keep a food diary which was regularly reviewed via my own personal dietician who is amazing. The critique was tough but very fair and it became a learning experience / re-education to what I should eat and drink and when. It was a surprise to me how often I should eat and was strange to have the recommendation to eat more often but it allowed me to feel nourished and gave me the energy to rise to the challenging workouts that came alongside the dietary changes. It also reduced my snacking tendency and a cheat day was built in to keep me on track. A proper exercise program was then drawn up with a mixture of some personal training, gym work and an appropriate balance of rest. The PT sessions consisted of some tough cardio i.e. circuit style work with working for every muscle group. The range of equipment kept it interesting though and the fact that I could see the progression at regular intervals. I would be lying if I said my personal training sessions were a doddle far from it. I have never worked so hard before or felt so whacked at the end of the hour sessions. However, once my initial conditioning was out the way I was relatively pain-free as I was pushed to a limit but not to the extent that I couldn't walk. The constant changing of the exercises and the fact that I could see definite progression made it all motivational as did the great prompting and encouragement given by my trainer. I am so proud of having lost the weight and love all the compliments I get. Tough bit now is continuing to maintain it but I'm confident I can do it and think that training at The London Gym was one of my best decisions ever. Highly Recommend for people who are wanting a life-changing experience.

I feel more confident, I have lost weight and my body has started to become toned and defined. I was so apprehensive about this level of training as I have never been a 'gym' kinda person and I had never really lifted weights before. I decided to just go for it and nervous me walked into their private personal training facility and I have never looked back. I was greeted by smiling happy people and felt welcomed and at ease straight away. I met my trainer - Nick, and we just clicked straight away. It's been an amazing mix of laughter, sweat and the occasional happy tears! Nick has pushed me hard, listened, taught me the correct techniques and most importantly helped me shape my body, achieving results that in the past I thought were never achievable. As a first timer to training I am so happy to be paired with Nick, he is so understanding and helpful, especially how he patiently corrects my posture or techniques without ever sounding condescending or like he has told me 100 times before. Not forgetting the invaluable nutritional advice from Maria, I have been able to easily adapt my lifestyle to suit the training programme and not feel like I was ever on a 'diet' or 'meal plan'. She enabled me to have all the recipes and information on hand to help me achieve my goals. The London Gym has something special about them, they make you feel you are part of a club and go that extra mile for you. Amazing attention to client care. Here's to the next 2 months

They offer all sorts of services, including beauty treatments (manicure, waxing etc), alternative therapies (acupuncture, reflexology, massage etc), therapists (dynamic therapy, life coaching etc), fitness (pilates, yoga, zumba) as well as all sorts of things for pregnant women. Bit of a one-stop shop for anything health-related that a doctor won't fix! Anyway I went there for their drop-in yoga: 8 pounds an hour with student ID. It was really great - a lovely light studio, with top notch and new looking equipment. The instructor was great, but I think the best bit for me so that the group was so small, only two others were attending. In a city crammed full of women doing yoga, that is a blessing to find indeed! If it wasn't for my permanent gym membership, I would consider coming to Vitality Centre often.

Having been a regular customer of the centre for the last seven years, I receive many marketing emails. Last week one came through for a special offer on sports massage or osteopathy, £30 instead of £50 and only 5 appointments available. I quickly called and made a booking for this week. On the day of my appointment, I receive a call from the vitality centre 2 hours before the scheduled time informing me that I cannot use this offer as it's only available for new clients and I had been to see the massagist before. This is not mentioned in the offer nor was it mentioned when I booked the appointment over the phone. I complained to the receptionist and said I would not go ahead with the appointment at full price and asked for athe manager to call me back. He called me back at 12:15, a quarter of an hour into the time when my appointment was supposed to be, I told him I was very unhappy with the he way I had been treated and in response he was extremely aggressive, said that I had been rude and disrespectful to his receptionist and was being rude and disrespectful to him and that he did not want people like me at his centre and proceeded to hang up on me. I am quite shocked at his attitude and lack of personal skills as well as any business sense. If this is the way they treat their long time customers, good luck to them in this competitive business environment.
