The wifey and I really like Hong Kong Market. This location recently re-opened after a remodel or…read moresomething along those lines. Opened back up on 11/10/18 if I remember correctly. We really like the tofu from here. The one we buy can be seen in the pics I took. The tofu always seems really fresh. I've always gravitated towards Asian cultures and cuisine ever since I was a kid. Mainly Japanese (being a fan of anime and Godzilla and what not). But other Asian cultures and food are fascinating as well of course. Hong Kong market is only the second place I've seen that sells my favorite coconut water "Foco roasted coconut juice". Most any place sells the regular one which is good as well. But the roasted one is great. Good stuff. They have a massive loose leaf tea selection. One of these days when I'm feeling up to it I will try one of the interesting ice cream flavors they sell. Purple yam flavored ice cream, red bean ice cream, corn with cheese ice cream. My wife claims the corn with cheese is pretty good surprisingly enough. When I see flavors like that she just tells me.....any food that may seem odd in dessert form, once sugar is added it's good. I'll take her word for it until I try it myself. I'll try the purple yam flavor maybe one day. They sell a soy sauce that I forgot the brand, but it's been around since 1948 or something like that. The Soy sauce company logo looks exactly like the rebel alliance logo. Surprised that in all these years the soy sauce company never sued over their logo being copied. Hong Kong market always has a strange smell. Very clean place but some herbs they sell or something causes the place to have some sort of strong odor that will occasionally trigger a migraine for me. Heads up for anyone who can't put up with strong odors for extended periods of time like me. But all in all I really like this place, the selection, and it's ambiance.

I've been coming here since 2018 and it's still one of my favorite spots for authentic Kerala food…read more The Kerala meals are amazing, and their pothi chor wrapped in banana leaves, beef roast, appam, and parotta are absolutely delicious. They recently started a buffet-to-go by weight, which is such a great idea because you can try a little bit of everything. While I usually go for the Kerala dishes, their butter chicken and other North Indian items are very good too. They always have fresh snacks like vada, samosa, banana fry, and on weekends the variety of food and snacks is even bigger. It's also a great place to shop for fresh spices and South Indian ingredients. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and truly go above and beyond to serve customers. If you care more about authentic food than fancy ambience, this is the place. It can get busy and sometimes there's a little wait, but it's always worth it. Plus, you can enjoy a free chai while waiting for your order!

SO, I've been curious for years! Back from shopping here a second time. Decided yes, this will be one of my regular food shopping places. It's a hole-in-the-wall interior, but for me has a good variety of South Asian things to eat straight away, or for ingredients in fair shape. I just got some apple bananas, curry puffs, a lassi, and samosa to go. Delicious! Good prices! Last time I got apple bananas, a spice, and a curry leaf plant. Also well priced. I didn't see the stewy dishes I saw last time. Looking forward to trying them soon.

It's a rustic, casual little place but they've got everything you want: all kinds of steaks, chops, roasts, chicken, sausages, and more. Best of all, if you're too lazy to do it yourself, they're smoking their own meat for lunch right next door. I'm heartbroken that I'm just finding out about this now...I could've been eating brisket and ribs every time we shopped around here. They've also got smoked turkey, smoked sausages, boudin, and all kinds of goodies by the counter for you to grab. I'll be back for more steaks and chicken to grill, and pulled pork sandwiches to stuff into my face. Their business is meat, and they know their business.

Thanks to hoard shopping, our local markets had NO MEAT, so we decided to give these guys a try. There was hardly any place to park in the small parking lot and very crowded inside - but they had plenty of meat - understandably, not everything we came for. No hamburger, but plenty of steak, chicken, and pork, so we ordered a couple of steaks and moved on so there would be meat for others. Service was outstanding - butchers were patient and friendly offering numerous suggestions to all who asked. Looking forward to retuning after life gets back to normal.

Pearland has its own Indian food truck Mumbai to Mangalore…read more! The small truck has plenty of options. They claim to be street food from the coastal south and they do have items that are not normally available in restaurants like the Neer Dosa, or goli baje which is a popular Mangalore snack ( pls note : Mangalore and Bangalore are completely different regions of the state of Karnataka in India) The food truck is in the parking lot of the new gas station Mustang Express. We tried a lot of items on their menu: Pani puri Samosa chat Neer dosa ( of course) Vada pav Schezwan rice My fav was the Vada Pav. The Neer dosa was good too. They have a single table in table you want to sit, but I did see ppl take carry outs more often. A good initiative. A good and economically priced stop for Indian street food. There was no crowd as it was a cold weekday and ppl seemed to prefer to-go, which worked good for us.

They even sell bulk items such as nuts, flour, nutritional yeast, dried fruit, natural detergent, oils, loose-leaf teas, etc. Some are made in-house, including vegan hot chocolate mix. I like getting my seasonings and spices here, opposed to the grocery store, because it is very fresh and hasn't been sitting out for years upon years on end. There aren't a lot of raw vegan restaurants down south of 45, but surprise, surprise, Natural Living has raw vegan onsite. I've only eaten there twice, and due to the limited hours throughout the week. I am only able to get down here on the weekends in the morning. I frequent Nokturne more as a vegan restaurant in CL, just due to the simple fact of the flexibility of hours. At Natural Living, I ordered the taco salad; it was vegan meat crumbles and veggies. There were more veggies than meat. A limited amount of dressing to lather the veggies, so it made the salad a bit dry, but tasty. I loved the peanut butter cookies on sale. They were my favorite. I love that they have a food fair program for organic fruits/vegetables from local gardeners. I'm not a big fan of organic anything as I feel that it is more of a marketing gimmick, but if others care about that, that's a perk. The program is very affordable. I've personally never tried it, but I always wanted to. The ambiance can be a bit off; the staff is sometimes nice, sometimes don't want to be bothered. The apothecary side of things system is just grab jars of what you want, and they weigh it, put it in baggies, and you pay for it. However, things can get complicated when there a multiple people on the apothecary side and there is nowhere to wait since the whole building is tight and small. Now the pricing; this establishment isn't the cheapest, but when you factor in the value of what you are purchasing with the quantity of goods, then you are getting a solid deal. They sell crystal jewelry, and parking is across the street. I always tell people I'm going to the apothecary, and when they Google it, they can't find it, so it is definitely a hidden gem. I would have given them 5 stars across the board, but with the very limited hours not good for the working class working between 8 am - 5 pm; they close at 6 pm, closed on Sundays and Mondays. I hate that, but I will continue to only come on Saturdays.
