Forgot to mention that when I was talking of the Saturday morning Ashtanga class, the instructor made a remark about mt bad mood. As I state in original review, shoulder injury only allows me to go so far into a pose. So when an instructor tries pushing me into a position, and I yelp in pain, she has no right to comment on my mood Thats why I wouldn't go back read more

I've tried a few different classes and instructors. So far everyone has been really nice. Now let me say that I have been doing yoga for about 4 years. Still a newt, but not completely new to it. I feel that they offer a lot for those still figuring out yoga. I've seen instructors align students, approach them when they can tell they need modifications and be understanding when they realize you have injuries. It's always a good thing to let an instructor know that you have an injury before class starts. I did try the Great Wall class. I think everyone should try this once cause sure there is something for everyone to experience for me, it was trusting in the straps to allow me to be completely supported by them. When I did hang against the wall, I did enjoy having my hands touch the ground. This let me understand the power you feel from grounding. If you are new to inversions, this class is definitely for you. read more

I can't believe no one has reviewed this place yet! Some of the classes do get quite busy (with good reason -- they have a central location and offer a scorchin' $39.95 introductory month offer), but even at capacity you never feel like you're crammed in like some other more overpriced studios *cough* Bodhi Tree *ahem*. I signed up for the registered intro class for $89, which runs four Saturdays and includes unlimited clases as well. The studio is beautiful, the changerooms are equipped with luxurious rainfall showers, and the hot classes are heated by radiant heaters on the ceiling (according to the website, they're the only studio in town with this heating system). I've had classes with three of the instructors (Dawn, Natasha and Kate) and they've all been excellent. They are all very willing to help you with your positions (especially useful for a beginner like myself), making even the more challenging Sattva or Asthanga classes less intimidating. I've been to a number of different studios, but Santosha takes the cake! read more

There are lots of great things about yoga Santosha, such as their convenient location, their beautifully decorated and peaceful studio, the great vibe, the incredibly friendly staff... but I think the most important reason why I love it, is the quality of their instructors. For years I had been trying yoga classes at different studios across the city and I have to say I never came across any instructor that would teach me properly. For me it is not just about correcting a pose, it is about the explanation of where I am going with it in its full expression and what kind of benefits it provides, the mental challenge and the learning experience. I used to get so bored at other classes because there was no structure nor that pedagogical work that makes you feel "wow, I am truly learning about my body and challenging it equally as much as I am challenging my mind here..." - This is what I found at Santosha, in particular with my favorite instructor Natasha! read more

Yoga Santosha is lovely. Nice atmosphere, welcoming, authentic people. The yoga space itself is nicely lit (natural light, yay!) and relaxing. They sell bolsters, books, small healthy snacks, and more. Prices are also totally reasonable and a bit lower (for drop in) than some other studios in the area, and like many studios in the city have a GREAT into 1 month offer. Teachers are friendly and supportive. Part way through my first month intro pass, I got a call from the studio asking me how everything was going, and if I had any suggestions for improvement. Other than 'free parking' I could not think of anything, and was amazed and impressed that they had phoned. That small extra step of customer service will keep me going back!! Their web site is very well done, and offers the ability to sign up for classes on-line - which is followed up with an e-mail reminder. AWESOME! They also provide a great map showing where to park in the area. I look forward to continuing to engage with Yoga Santosha!! read more

Being a former lulu employee I had the opportunity to try out a variety of studios all over Calgary. After leaving the company I decided to choose my favorite studio to have a steady practice. I decided Santosha was where I wanted to be- even though its a 30 minute drive from my house. The studio is gorgeous. You are greeted in to a warm soft lite environment with a soothing water fall. The entire place was hand built by one of the owners and there is a lot of love that has gone in to that space. You can feel it! They have large bathrooms for both men and women that include showers, and a place to hang your things. They have a library, water fountains, a tea station, and merchandise for all your yoga loving needs. The facility also has a wonderful massage therapist/ Reiki practitioner. The teachers are some of the best in town. They are all very warm, dedicated to their students and extremely knowledgeable. The studio offers a large variety of classes ranging from yoga flow, Ashtanga, Hot groove, yin/yang, Restorative, Sattva and more. The prices are affordable with a large selection of different class cards. You can even sign in to classes online and access the schedule. They also host 35 day challenges and workshops that bring in amazing teachers who teach world wide. It really does offer a lot of variety to all Calgarians and located right off of 4th street in the trendy area of mission. They offer $2 parking for the parkade - just ask at the desk. This was the biggest thing for me since parking downtown can be a nightmare and expensive. The studio area itself is large with big windows, candles and soft music. read more

Love it here! They've got a good mix of hot & not hot classes, and hard working (flow) classes) to relaxed deep stretch (yin) classes. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, and all the instructors are great. Parking can be an issue, but if you look, you can find free or cheap available (they have an underground lot that charges $2/class, there's lots of 2 hour street parking, and the south side of 19th Ave is free with no time limit). They sell a lot of merchandise as well, though it can be pricey (up to $90 for a mat). Prices are about average for other studios in the city. Get your yoga on! read more

Would get 5 stars if their massages were priced 'all-in' and the payment system didn't ask for a tip after getting a massage. My other massage place doesn't let you tip and wish Santosha did the same. I don't like feeling obligated to tip since massages are expensive as it is. Otherwise their yoga is great! read more

Yoga Santosha is one of the most fabulous places I have ever been - not just a yoga studio. It's warm, inviting, friendly, and peacefully quiet. When you walk through the door, it's almost insta-calm from the crazy of your day. Obvious upon entering, the decor is beautiful and eclectic, while not overbearing. It's bright, open, clean, and an enjoyable space to spend time in. The change rooms are lovely and large, separating (but offering) shower space, toilets, mirrors, and a changing area, along with mat storage. The studio space itself is large and open, all with a great view of the instructors at the front of the room (who are also very mobile during class, respectfully helping with adjustments, and generally just engaging the practitioners). The hot classes are fantastic and there is room for plenty of people without feeling overcrowded. They have a selection of products for purchase (mats, blocks, healthy snacks, soaps, jewelry, etc.) and also mats and towels for rent, which is nice for someone forgetful like myself. Everyone who works at Santosha is exceptionally friendly. The instructors are all amazing and different in great ways, the front desk staff are always welcoming with a kind smile, and the behind the scenes people are great as well. I would absolutely, 110% recommend (and have!) Yoga Santosha to anyone and everyone, of every level of practice. Their prices are very competitive and offer some great perks as well (and fun things like 35 day challenges). read more

The studio is always clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I've enjoyed every class I've attended.

Love the instructors at Yoga Santosha. I am also a Yoga Teacher and I believe in the importance of adjustments and alignment, love that they teach in that manner and make it safe for all. Beautiful souls teaching eager students with compassion and gentle guidance. Great job all! Dee Shea read more

This place is my home. I practiced yoga on and off for about 5 years and before trying the unlimited month deal for newbies at Santosha. After going hard for that month and really getting comfortable and maybe even improving, I was hooked. I'm bad at sticking with things and must admit that I thought the novelty would wear off, but I'm approaching the one year mark of practicing at Santosha and my love has not waned....despite even my stubborn, inflexible hips. The staff here are amazing and they offer a good mix of classes and a variety of experiences based on instructor alone. From desk staff to the teachers themselves, everyone goes that extra mile and provides a personal touch. read more

We tried our first class at Yoga Santosha a few weeks ago after the Lulu sponsored Yoga for the people had moved to the new location. We were impressed with the setting and service. People were very friendly and Intructot was excellent. Although the location wasn't quite as convenient for parking, the opportunity to buy a parking pass for the parkade in the building for $2.00, which easily solved that problem! Looking forward to coming back! mobile users: tap and hold to copy read more

This is a fantastic yoga studio. The staff is friendly and helpful and the instructors are world-class.

This studio is one of the best in the city, at least that I've found. I practice Ashtanga yoga, and to my delight, Yoga Santosha offers Ashtanga classes in the evening. The instructor allows me to practice mysore style in her class so I'm able to get the full primary series in, with adjustments. This studio, and the instructor, Alison, has been a saving grace for my practice, and I will continue to come here. Alison is knowledgeable in the practice, and gives good adjustments. The actual studio itself is beautiful. The space is beautiful, with windows that can be opened in each of the yoga rooms. The change rooms are lovely, clean, they have showers. They have tea in the waiting room if you happen to arrive early for your class, and a calming sitting area with an array of interesting goods they sell. Altogether pleasant. The reception staff are always, always kind and welcoming. The management is always quick to respond to my inquiries. This studio is a delight. read more

I have been going every morning for two weeks and thus far the experience has been very positive; I like the classes, the teachers and the studio is beautiful with great energy. read more

I signed up for the Intro month pass for the month of July 2013. So far, I've gone three times. I've tried three different teachers thus far to get a real feel for the studio. Parking was an issue tonight but I eventually found a spot. Guess that's to be expected visiting a downtown studio though. The studio was very busy with lots of people coming and going. But got through the line fairly quickly, always welcomed by friendly staff. Change rooms are large enough and clean enough for me. The studio was pretty full tonight but I don't mind that. Tonight's teacher was the best so far which was a nice treat. I'm also a yoga teacher / former yoga studio owner. Anyway, the studio is pretty good, lots of good practitioners too. I spent at least 10 minutes after class talking with the teacher. She was good in every way. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. I would love to teach at this studio some time, I hope I get the chance!!! read more

Everyone was very welcoming and the instructor Lisa is great. The yoga for beginners class was exactly what I was looking for and hoped it was. Catered towards individuals who had never done yoga. It was a good atmosphere and not intimidating read more

I really enjoy the spa-like environment that is created the minute you step into the studio. It is great to know that all teachers here teach at a high quality; so regardless if I have personally experienced their class, I know at the outset they will be great. I recently went to the community movie night. It was awesome. A great relaxed environment, with wonderful treats and a great movie selection. read more
