If you come to compare prices be sure to note that this meat is of a much higher grade that the conveyor belt meat from the grocery stores. The prices are not dirt cheap but you get what you pay for and that is quality. I don't know about you but I am fearful to buy meats that may be recalled tomorrow from the chain stores. I can't tell you how many times the meat from a grocery store goes bad quick even within 24 hours, sometimes the meat may look good in the store but when you get it home it is discolored on the bottom or throughout. I love knowing that the meat at Calhoun's is truly local and fresh! They will be a new staple in our community.

I was told by some of the patrons and the employees that if you get there before 11:30 ish there is usually plenty of choices. When I arrived around 12:30 there were only marinated chicken breasts and they were grilling fresh hamburgers. I decided to try a burger and also got some of the macaroni salad from the little deli case. The burger was made by hand from fresh ground beef and it was not bad. I've had better and I've had much worse. They do have a few condiments you can add such as pickles, onion, ketsup and mustard. The macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. I thought the burger could've used a little seasoning but overall it wasn't bad. My meal was less than $5 so I am calling it a win! There are a few tables and chairs where you can eat if you'd like but I took mine to go. They have coolers where you can get drinks, frozen meats and seafoods, deli sandwiches etc. and they have a few deli meats and cheeses and fresh cut meats for sale also.
