Welcome to the Mecca for popcorn lovers! Everything in this store is about popcorn, even the book, '1000 Places to Go Before You Die'. Whirlypop poppers, microwave popcorn in every variety, popcorn bowls, popcorn oils, individual paper containers, popcorn seasonings and SO many varieties of popcorn. My personal favorite is Tiny Tender White because it has NO hulls (you know, those irritating thin shells that get stuck in your teeth? ) Tiny Tender Yellow has almost no hulls but a bit more flavor. As the name implies, these pop up quite small. There's flavor added to the microwave packs or I'll use the butter flavored popcorn oil in a Whirlypop to give them a little flavor. The store, despite being in the middle of nowhere, can be very busy, probably a result of large arrow signs on the highway that say 'Popcorn'. And who doesn't love popcorn? read more

We used to go in their old Amish barn to get popcorn here every summer but now it's easier to find and a more modern barn that sells the best popcorn in Indiana (sorry Orville!) In the heart of Amish country, just south of Shipshewana, they are well known for their Tiny Tender popcorn but carry other varieties as well. They have the oils, seasonings, poppers...everything you need. Love that you are treated at the door with a little bag of tiny tenders to tide you over, and that the smell of it hits you before you even open the door If you can make here in person, you can order online. Truly worth it if you are a popcorn fanatic who isn't a big fan of microwave popcorn. I didn't make it here earlier this summer and bought a different brand instead, that's why I had to make the drive over today to take some back to California with me. read more

If you can't stop at Yoder Popcorn itself but are able to go to E&S Sales in downtown Shipshewana, you'll find a limited selection of the varieties of popcorn available at Yoder Popcorn. But if you want the full selection, it's worth the trip to go to the source. Red, Blue, Purple, Tiny Tender, Mushroom (pops up really big!), Lady Finger + others and all kinds of popcorn making equipment and salt blends and serving containers. Most popcorn varieties are available in a few different sizes. The two pound bags seem to be the most popular size, but there are smaller sample sizes, really big bags and even gift packs with small bags of several varieties in a gift box. While you look over their wares, you can sample a free bag of popcorn. It smells fantastic in there. I said to one of the young ladies running the store, "You have a great job! You feed popcorn to people and then they're happy. You make people happy." Definitely worth the trip if you are in the area. read more

After touring an RV factory, I had seen the sign that said Yoder's Popcorn. We eat popcorn just about every night. Driving back, we made stop and were given a bag of freshly popped pop corn. The bag was more than just a sample. If we weren't flying back home, I would have brought back those big bags or popcorn. Instead, I settled for a 2 lb bag of Caramel and peanut pop corn that we ate the airport and when we got home. My wife also bought two bags of Cashew Brittle, popcorn seasoning and a sample bag of the different types of popcorn kernels to pop in the microwave. The gal behind the counter was very helpful telling me which types are good in a hot air popper and microwave. This is a MUST stop. read more

Great popcorn, but BEWARE if ordering via mail order. I recently ordered 24lbs of Lady Finger (over $66 after shipping). When product arrived, the entire batch was dried out and flaking. When I talked to Yoder, they told me I should pack it back up and ship it back, or I could dump it into a different container while standing outside in wind. The dry hulls would then just blow away. Come on, I've placed more than 5 large orders with these guys over the years. Why send a good customer an old batch and then make them work for it. Anyway, I found a few other places on Amazon and Ebay that I think I'll try next time that also have free shipping. read more

They have everything you could ever need for popcorn! We have a popcorn machine so we r familiar with the prices of the oil, seasonings and so forth...they r the cheapest priced. U can even order online but the experiance of going there tops it all. Such friendly informative people, so many different types of popcorn, weither u want the microwave bags or for a popcorn machine, red, blue, big, tiny kernels,you name it they got it! Easy to find for first timers. This is a small store but amazing. Enter and they offer you a free bag for tasting and they have a popcorn bar with powders and oils to try which hooks you right into buying cause it's soooo good. for 20 yrs i've used YODER for my popcorn related needs through mail order because athough they have a walk-in shoppe too in topeka it's not exactly right across the ill/in state border (150 mi. from chicagoland, but if you're driving east....) you'll find your fresh kernel varieties here (largest size is 50 lb bag), stainless stovetop popper, fine popcorn seasonings, and jars of coconut popping oil (actually coconut butter unless you keep it too warm). would i serve you a saturated fat? let's talk guilty pleasures between friends. go to yoder online site or call their tollfree number 800/892-2170. the best prices around too my dear dad always made popcorn stove-top and since that's how i was raised no microwave popcorn in my home, and--no lie--not a single un-popped kernel in my stovetop popper either. My Dad and Uncle bought this for years. Now I've moved to Tennessee but make the trip down to Topeka when I visit Elkhart at least twice a year to stock up. Tiny Tender, white and yellow, is the BEST popcorn there is. The shop is clean, the staff friendly, and while the free popcorn is not as tasty as my husband makes with the Tiny Tender, it is still a great snack.
