Where we live, it can be difficult to find contractors. I contacted Amer. Drilling and they came…read moreout to look over what was needed & to give an estimate. As my 84 y.o. mother was without water, and Jonathan said they could do it "right now", we said "Do it". I was a bit concerned about how late it was in the day, and sure enough, they ran into some unexpected problems for installing a new water line, That put them behind, and they ended up working in the dark. I went home at that point, thinking they had things under control. While back-filling, they had a track come off the excavator. Even tho' rain was in the forecast, they asked to drop their trailer & return the next day, which they did. Due to the rain, I did not check over their work until the following day. What a mess they left.... AS well as the mess, they had to come back out a second time because they did not do the job completely, correctly and as it should have been done the first time. Another leak was found on the second trip, and it was then I learned that they had not taken the new line clear to the cistern. Rather, they took it to the first leak they found, and must have "assumed" the rest was fine. It wasn't. I think they just rushed the job due to darkness & expected rain. As they were making the second repair, Jonathan said he would "work with me" on it. I asked if he meant more money, and he said yes: for materials, time and excavator cost, which he'd split with us. I told him it was their fault that they didn't do the job correctly the first time! I wasn't about to have my mother pay more for their screw up. Also, they had to remove a section of PVC pipe from a downspout buried in the yard. In doing so, they found a previously damaged section. They said they could cut out the bad, get a coupler from the truck and put it back. They didn't do the repair, and just left a hole around the end of the pipe. Now, a trench has to be dug and parts purchased to repair what they said they would, and didn't. That must have ticked him off, because as he was loading the excavator onto the trailer, I went to look at the "completed" work. I had noticed wires and cables sticking up out of the ground before, and this time he half buried some of the old tubing and other trash. I asked if that was their normal business operations, half-burying trash to which he replied "Well, yeah". There were huge rocks left on top and partially buried in the back fill. I took three tractor bucket loads from the little side yard they went thru. They left huge ruts in the woods, on a slope. Erosion is going to be a problem. When I reached out to the owner & sent him pictures, he said it looked like they did a fine job. What?! He had some smart remarks, too, stating I told the guys the wire & cable were "OK". Well, not quite. One wire was an old invisible fence (for dogs) that was no longer in use. Another was an old phone cable. I said it didn't matter if they dug through those; I never said "Sure, leave them sticking up out of the ground, that's fine!" They also cut through a ground wire and left IT sticking out of the ground. And they left all this for an 84 y.o. woman to have to clean up. The owner said 'YOU have to hire a contractor after it settles to do that stuff; we don't do it'. I've dealt with numerous contractors. This outfit was terrible. I would NOT recommend.

We had the company come out to assess the situation hoping that it was a quick fix. We were told that the well had "collapsed" and would need $24,345.90 worth of repairs. The well system cost the previous owners $15,730. I'm unsure how the repairs could cost $9,000 more than the original work, but of course, this is unacceptable to us and would not use this service. I have a copy of the original invoice to the previous owners and see nowhere that a screen/liner was used which we have since been told is a necessity for this location. Additionally, when we purchased this home, the sale was held up because the driller never obtained a permit from the county to drill this well. It had not been inspected. The well was drilled 7/20/21 and when our inspector (for the home purchase) looked for the record he could not find one. The county came after the fact and issued a permit on 11/10/21. If all of this had been done properly, we may not be in this expensive predicament but here we are. Not only did American Drilling & Pump not offer us any compensation or "deal" to help correct this situation, but it appears they thought they would take advantage of us. We currently have another quote for $16,000. Stay away from this company.

I was scared to death when my well pump started taking on water that needed to be drained every 15 seconds. Matt was so unbelievably knowledgeable and professional and helpful it is mind-boggling. Todd worked quickly and efficiently. I was most afraid of the cost that everything would come out to. Thankfully that didn't turn out to be the case at all. They were so reasonable and honest and fair. Never once did I get a bad vibe. I will forever use this company in the future and will be forever grateful for the amount of help and service they provided in replacing an entirely new pipe they had to sleeve from the inside of my basement out to my well, that ran underneath my deck into the backyard. Turned out to be not such a big deal thing after all! Thank you Doug Adams well drilling!!!
