Firstly, this certain location decides to cancel the first soccer class because of FIFA and we're supposed to be okay with that. Secondly, make sure that your child never gets sick when signing up for this class as they DO NOT do make up classes for it. You need a prescription/doctor's appointment which is ridiculous since kids can get sick anytime without needing those two required documentation. Thirdly, i feel like the program itself doesnt teach the kids properly anyway so why bother. I will never ever do this program ever again even if you have to pay me, save your time and money, steer away!! I cant wait for this program to be over, we dont even show up for most of the classes now. What a waste!

I love the idea of a community centre with multiple facilities. Gym, pool, skating rink, PLUS a…read morelibrary and café -- check, check, check. And it's modern? We love new, up-to-date facilities. I've used all their facilities except for the skating rink (so I like to think I'm a fairly reliable source). You can pay drop-in for gym and/or pool for $7.50 (yep, you can use both facilities in the same day if you want). Gym isn't huge but there are still enough machines/benches/treadmills to go around. You could totally do a full workout without waiting your turn (unless it's after 4 on a weekday, aka peak gym hours everywhere). Pool is one of the best in Vancouver, given that it's new and has a lot of features. A good number of swimming lanes, leisure pools, a lazy river, 3 diving boards, a big hot tub, a sauna (that is not so big) and a steam room. Showers are fine as far as public pool showers go (the curtains don't fully shut but still better than UBC's) and you can bring your own lock for the lockers. I love that there's a library because I can head on over post-workout and enter a different kind of calm, zen mindset as I peruse the shelves. Whose idea was it to attach a library to every community centre (and can we get more of that, please!)? There will always be something to gripe about with every community centre (sometimes there are way too many people in one swimming lane and I'm not sure why they don't open up another), but as far as Hillcrest goes, it has a lot to offer. A really great place to hit up all the facilities in one stop, or to bring the kids along for a fun-filled, athletic and/or academic weekend. Also, the staff is GREAT and so kind. Kudos to them!

When i went to Arts Umbrella from ages 10-12, it was easy to get a hold of management for any reason. There was always a manager in the building. The children there clearly enjoyed their classes, and the parents enjoyed how easy enrolment was, and seemed to enjoy the environment as well. Now? Turnover seems to be at an all time high, and management is impossible to reach. If you have a complaint, it will not be handled by management, rather the lovely Front desk workers that seem to clean up after this managers messes, and actually keep the place running. As I mentioned, I was an employee of Arts Umbrella. I took the role of Visual Arts Assistant, which meant doing all the busy work during and in between classes. I would like to add, i recieved no training, I simply signed my papers and they sent me in for my first day. The instructors i worked with? all absolutely amazing people. The lesson plans, energy, and enthusiasm were all top notch. The manager was, as i mentioned, nearly impossible to reach. She also is not interested in stepping up when were short staffed, and instead just let the instructors deal with it. I had no idea I was doing anything wrong until I was being fired. I got no feedback from my manager whatsoever. All of my coworkers said they loved me, and even the parents expressed how excited their kids were to see "Ms. Tessa". I was then given no shifts for Spring Break camps, and recieved a call a couple days ago that my employment was terminated on a "no-cause" basis. If you want to go somewhere that management actually values you as a person? Values your opinions? Even listens?This is not the place.

I sent an e-mail to them and not long after I got a reply from Master Saadati inviting me for a training day. Ever since the first day all the staff has been extremely helpful and friendly. The location in which I train (west 8th) is very well-equipped and clean. The prices are very good and the trainings are very well structured. I've only really trained taekwondo in two schools during my life but I have to say that Third Eye exceeded my expectations and set the bar high!

Teacher Robb made our eldest, and us, feel comfortable leaving him for the first time. Our son took a few days to get adjusted, then didn't want to leave. The 3.5 hour duration and choice between am or pm classes are such a benefit. Our daughter attended a year later and loved teacher Christa. Our youngest is now in his final year of preschool and he loves Larry and Nicole (and Christa too!). The preschool space is bright and fun, teachers take the kids to the nearby parks and/or senior centre everyday and our kids always tell us how much they enjoy/ed the school. The teachers support each child's development, offer to assist with any learning requests and instil the confidence and love of school which led to our older 2 thriving in private school kindergarten. We have recommended Extra Steps to numerous families over the years, even those who have been hesitant due to poor experiences at other schools, and they have all been so grateful for sharing this wonderful preschool with them. Kids are all treated with kindness and respect, which allows for personal development. As our time with Extra Steps will end at the close of this year, we wish to express our appreciation to the teachers for the love and support our kids have enjoyed- we really can't recommend this preschool enough. Larry and Nicole also run the most fabulous outdoor program on Saturdays, which our youngest loves and will continue to do next year.

At Extra Steps Learning, they helped him to come out of his shell and helped him improve with his personal development without judging him any different from other kids. He improves tremendously ever since he attended preschool here 5 days a week. He's now in Kindergarten and he still talks about his teachers especially Ms. Christa. I like all the educators there but my favourite one is Ms. Christa. She really helps my son to develop social and personal skills there and always treated him with kindness.

She spent her time doing all the things she loves and received high school credit for it. TES theatre is different than other programs because it seeks to find out what youth are interested in and thinking about, then provides them with a venue to express themselves.
