Two showers at two minutes everyday and if she was running a bit late they left her behind. Which I think is crazy. The high platform was closed. She was disappointed she didn't get to go tubing. She wasn't bragging about the food. She was an 11 year old pretty much on her own. I don't think the counselor was helping her out as well. All of her bunk mates knew one another so she was an outcast. No one would go with her into the haunted house so she went alone. I would think the counselor's job would be to look after the ones that aren't fitting in. She was in tears when she left. She was blaming herself. If I had known all of this I would have picked her up Wednesday. What an awful experience she had.

Whenever the steam engine pulls into position beside the depot, there's always great excitement as passengers crowd the street, pack the depot, and pour into the train cars. This is truly a great opportunity to step back into time for about an hour. The air is fresh and clean, the scenery is ethereal. You'll forget about the stress of living in a modern world when you're focusing on the meadows and fields, whooshing by your window. This is a great excursion for all ages. When mother nature gives you plenty of snow, one decides to enjoy a little snow on a winter day, and check out a new park. This park is a less then an hour drive from Amherst, NY on the outskirts of Batavia, NY. The interactive nature center/ information building, really was astonishing, in my opinion top notch for a county park. Dave, greeted us as we stepped inside the interactive nature center and were blown away. This place is great for kids, adults, everyone in my opinion, that has adventure in them, and appreciates the outdoors. There's the children's room, information for summer camp, educational exhibits, real life turtle, and many more interesting artifacts. The park offers snowshoe rentals, and the poles for $ 5, and a variety of programing for a small nominal fee depending on event of $5 to help maintain the park. The park offers plenty of trails, and room to explore, along with their Toboggan hills. Clean, spacious ,beautiful location and perfect to beat the winter blues. I highly recommend to utilize the poles provided with the snow shoes. Unfortunately, when you don't you risk potential to fall. Overall, looking forward to coming back soon to explore the park even more.

Me and my husband checked out Genesee County Park this weekend and were very impressed with what it had to offer. I have never been snowshoeing before, but they had a great set up. For $5 you can rent a pair of snowshoes and poles from 12-3 on Sundays. The man working said he would be there until at least 4 so not to worry about being back by 3 which I thought was a nice perk. The park itself was nice, there were lots of paths to explore. The snow came Thursday night into Friday and we explored the park on Sunday. By then there were lots of paths spread around the park made by other snowshoers and cross country skiers which was nice for someone unfamiliar with the park. What really set this park apart though was there information building. For the nature enthusiast you could spend quite a bit of time looking at all of the exhibits and artifacts they had collected there. From nests of every kind to all sorts of animals, to a real life turtle there was lots to explore. There was also an interactive children's room with puppets and more education exhibits. The park had some really cool information about their summercamp for middle and high school students as well. From geocaching to outdoor skills to science the camp really seemed to help prospective students get an idea about some possible careers in the environment. If you're in the area I definitely recommend Genesee County Park in the winter, besides snowshoeing they also have toboggan hills that looked like a great way to cure the cabin fever in winter. I'm excited to come back once the weather warms up and check out what this park has to offer when the weather clears!

As soon as we walked past the gift shop, I was greeted either by a unicorn or a gorgeous white Shire horse with a fake horn, I'm not sure which. Either way, I knew it was going to be a special day. We watched a few bird shows, one with hawks (natch) that we saw from far and one with owls that we watched up close. All the animals here are incredible. My particular favorite was the little armadillo that ran around his cage. The whole time it was impressed upon us how important conservation and rehabilitation is for these animals. The highlight was the crow that kept screaming "WOW!" He was so funny! The bummer was that we had to leave eventually... You must go here, especially if you love animals! It's extremely well kept and the volunteers clearly love what they do. I highly recommend coming here some weekend. It's worth the trip!

My family came here for the Enchanted Wild Fest on a Saturday in September. It was our first time…read morevisiting and we were very impressed by the knowledge and dedication of the volunteers we encountered. The hawks and falcons that we saw were incredible. There were many other animals available for viewing, and an entire section dedicated to cats. We visited the Aerie with its Harry Potter theme and experienced an armadillo, cane toad, tortoise, and snake. We were able to participate in a live Raptor show, and learn about the Snowy Owl that was born at Hawk Creek. There was even a beautiful unicorn that we were able to pet. This is an incredible place worth visiting. I learned so much, and will definitely be coming back.
