Food: 4/5 I find the food on the oily side and of course...spicy! FAVOURITE DISHES Bamboo threads - pretty healthy and not too spicy Cumin lamb skewers - tender and juicy, comes on big skewers Rice cake, tofu skin, sweet potato noodle soup - I love all 3 ingredients...put it all in a bowl for me and i'm happy. THE OTHER DISHES Grilled fish - more like deep fried fish, it comes on a huge grill with lots of spices and vegies. Fish was a bit too fishy and oily for me but I ate some of the vegies and the flavours are very fragrant. Pigs ears - a bit of a crunch and a bit of punch. Cold noodles - good for an entree to share or if you want noodles just for yourself. Pig trotters - did not try We got 2 jugs of watermelon juice and some tea which helped us cope with the spice but soy milk works a treat! Atmosphere: 3/5 as it was very very loud even though only half the tables were full and tables were not bused straight away. The good thing was we didn't have to wait in line which was a good change for dainty sichuan spots. Service: 3/5 Messy and rushed, you write your order on a paper menu and they forgot to put the other side of our order though (though it was only for rice). The language barrier is closing at this Dainty location but some staff may find it difficult to communicate with customers. I am a fan of spicy food every now and then and understand we ordered a fish plate but for $44 per person I wouldn't go back all the time for the sake of both my wallet and stomach.

Last year our favorite server had changed to a different restaurant and now this year our favorite host, Patrick is no longer there. There is a new host that tries to act like the old one but he just isn't able to emulate correctly. He comes across to be very rude. Our wonderful Dumpling Lady is still there. Am not sure how long. The kitchen just didn't have the same buzz as it has over the last ten years. The Wontons in Hot Chili Oil are still fantastic. Dumpling Lady is the Winner. Service was rushed. Not very friendly. Probably won't go back next year. We are both very sad.

It is better to make reservations. For the dimsum I can say is average like other dimsum places I visited before. The menu is overwhelming. So many dishes to choose from. For dinner it was very nice as we had live crystal crab which I never had before. The meat is soft. The other dishes which good is the beef cube. It was so tender. The shark fin soup which is banned in US is good. Price wise, they are pretty pricey. Overall it was a good lunch and dinner

The service was great our waiters helped us accommodate a disability within my family and recommended us some great dishes. However, the restaurant is upstairs and the elevator was broken, which made it difficult for us to get up. The food: -Seafood fried rice: Really flavorful, with generous portions of dried scallop and crab. The rice was cooked just right and the serving was big enough that for a party of 3, we had quite a bit leftover. -Snow pea leaves in garlic: A favorite vegetable of mine, and this was cooked in an amazing garlic-y soup!! Such a clean and delicious dish -Egg tofu: This was my first time having egg tofu and they were so silky and smooth. They look a bit like scallop and are served with a good amount of broccoli and mushrooms! Honestly really addicting. - Steamed trout: This fish was very pricey, but that's normal for a live fish dish. It was huge- definitely enough to serve a party of 5-6. The fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce paired amazingly with the mild trout flavor. Highly recommend if you're feeling like splurging! This place is also nice, quiet, and clean inside during dinnertime. Really amazing experience overall!

I think we over ordered it lol but we finished it! The place is easy to find , I use Google map a lot whenever I travel. The food came out so fast, we were very surprised. Their staff are fast! The interior is homey too, very authentic old school restaurant in Asia. Their pork and duck are good, and their infamous omelette is awesome. We love a good fried tofu so we also ordered that. Overall, I'd recommend someone who's visiting Melbourne!
