We stayed 5 nights while visiting YNP. This is the perfect spot to kickback and relax after a full day of visiting the park. - The campground had a beautiful view of lake. And if you're into fishing, we saw some nice size trout being caught. An area for cleaning fish is also available. - Showers are clean and spacious. - RV sites are good size and are easy to get in and out. There are some pull thrus as well. - Laundry area has 2 washers & dryers. Now for the BEST part. The staff customer service. Cathy checked us in, and she was AWESOME. She provided recommendations and plotted on map where to go to see what. She was like having our personal tour guide. She nailed our 4 day itinerary and we followed her recommendations and were extremely pleased. Steve was also friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying at Holiday RV campground while exploring YNP or just to hang out by the lake fish and relax.

What a hidden gem! The views are unbelievable! Close drive to the west entrance of Yellowstone. Very convenient. Quiet clean friendly!! We will be back!

If only I had scheduled an extra day during my Yellowstone excursion - I would have spent it here! Bf and I couldn't score a campsite at Yellowstone and we weren't about to pay $200 for a crappy chain motel in West Yellowstone so, we made our way to this campground. This campground is about 12 miles from the West Yellowstone entrance - it's RV or cabins only - no tent camping. This campground is newer and it's right next to a quiet lake. The RV sites are about $45 each, a cabin is about $70 a night, and a deluxe cabin with bathroom is about $120 a night. I think there's a two night minimum on the cabins. Bf and I got a cabin, which was right next to the main lobby where the showers and bathrooms are. The cabin came with a full size bed with air mattress, two bunk beds with air mattresses, and space heater. You will need your own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels. The bathroom and showers are a close walk from the cabins. They are three showers, which are very clean and private. No change needed - they're included in the price. There were so many lake activities here - bf and I REALLY wanted to spend an extra day. There's great fishing right from the front steps of your cabin. They also have kayak, canoe, and boat rentals at insanely good prices. $7 an hour for a kayak rental? Really? I had to rub my eyes. The area is breathtaking and the lake is pristine. The pricing here is a bit on the high end but, this is a pretty high end campground for the area. It's great to spend a few days and camp here. To crash here for one night only is a wasted opportunity.

Excellent RV Resort - Stayed with our 38' motorhome, tow car & kayak, plenty of room to spread out. Our space #6 was right on the lake. Stayed last week of Aug so it's pretty quiet. Lots of grassy area, boat launch, laundry, doggie area, fishing, boating, 10 min from W Yellowstone Park and town with ammentities & provisions. Lots of Fly Fishing - would stay again.

My family and a big group of 15 total family members stayed at this campground in June. The staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful. The campground was very well kept and quite. The Lake views were gorgeous and perfectly situated outside of West Yellowstone. It was right next to the road but you really couldn't tell. The road wasn't busy at all. If you stay here make sure you check out Earthquake Lake and Ghost Village. Very cool!

Excellent view! Our Motorhome pad (#26) was nearly perfectly level as soon as we pulled onto it. The hook ups were at the rear of the very long site which was fine. There are three separate shower rooms which we also very clean.

Weeds, dog poop, noise, and no service!

Firehole Ranch - Fire pit and the dinner view.

    Firehole Ranch

We just completed 5 night 4 day stay at Firehole Ranch. It was a wonderful experience excluding one…read moresignificant issue which will prevent us from returning. The vast majority of the trip was beyond outstanding due to the service of the Firehole staff; including our unbelievably "fishy" guide Adam, the manager Eric, the entire outdoor team (Jackson, Nick, Collin, etc), the Kitchen team and maid service. The food was eclectic, unique and truly special. The fishing on the Madison, inside Yellowstone, and other nearby areas was great. We waded and floated extensively. The other guests were friendly, fun and from across the country. Unfortunately however, our trip was unnecessarily affected by the owner of Firehole Ranch, Lyndy Caine. While she is a quite pleasant person on the surface, her inappropriate control issues relative to dinner service and conversation content were unpalatable and inappropriate for a supposed client focused luxury resort experience. The example which stands out was during the wonderful July 4th Barbecue celebration at the Ranch. Lyndy asked for a picture with myself and my wife for posting purposes which we happily accommodated. Shortly thereafter, in the middle of the party, she asked to speak with me privately about an issue. I readily agreed not sure about what was going on. She then said politely that I had discussed, 2 days prior at the cocktail hour, a medical subject with a guest which she felt inappropriate for Firehole Ranch conversation. I was quite surprised by this as I didn't realize there were "secret" topic restrictions at Firehole and the conversation only occurred after said guest's multiple requests for my opinion on the topic. She felt I should have not have given my opinion on the question, clearly disagreed with my position and preferred I not discuss the subject further... as if I had initiated or generated the entire event...which lasted less than 4-5 minutes in an amicable and pleasant manner. Lyndy made it clear she would define or censor what client conversations were allowed at her resort and opinions expressed. I directly and politely told her I disagreed with her opinion on the medical subject but would of course abide by her request and left it at that. This surprise and ambushed criticism, interrupting a pleasant social event, after first making sure she got the social media photos she desired, was deeply offensive. At the next evening's dinner, Lyndy was uncomfortable around us and didn't ever greet my wife and obviously avoided our table the entire night. Her junior staff assistant, Jaclyn, who had been pleasant prior was unfriendly and initially unhelpful with coordinating our final departure details for the next day. We were clearly "out" as guests with the owner which appeared to have been communicated to some portion of the staff. The whole affair was unnecessary, completely avoidable and a failure in customer care. However, upon reading reviews of the Firehole Ranch this behavior by Lyndy has been repeatedly documented by other guests. It's a very special place but we won't be back. Noel R Williams MD

Bring your parking pass if you have it otherwise there will be a charge just to access the area. Once you arrive at the boat landing, parking is free. From there you can either hike a portion of the lake and take the boat back, simply do a hike, or take a boat ride/hike, or just ride the boat! There is a charge for riding the boat with discounts available for kids and seniors. There are only facilities at the boat landing and once you leave you're on your own! You're constantly reminded that you are in bear country so bring some spray, bug repellent, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks, as there are no amenities in the wilderness areas. Hikes and climbing opportunities exist however, for the more advanced area permits may be required so check before you leave with Park Rangers. We were very happy to have started early as when we returned by noon the landing was exceptionally crowded, and parking was nonexistent. There is shopping, some concessions, and beautiful area to explore just around the boat landing area. This is a fantastic stop, but again emphasize. Be here early!

Jared's Wild Rose Resort - Gym used to store mattresses

    Jared's Wild Rose Resort

    (16 reviews)

Jared's Wild Rose Resort was a huge disappointment. I really must applaud whoever did their website…read morebecause it portrays a wonderful place to stay. Unfortunately, the reality is quite different. We had booked a hotel style room in one of their buildings. They also have cabins and RV hook ups. As soon as we found the place, their very dated and faded sign out front was the first indication that this place was old. It's over 100 years old and in many ways, feels like it. Despite this being a large property, it was pretty deserted. We only saw a couple of other people staying there. A pay phone on the wall. The "arcade" was dingy and outdated. The gym seems to be storage room. I opened the door to the gym and there was a mattress inside almost blocking the door. The first room they showed us felt like a basement because the view was slightly below ground, looking at galvanized metal placed just outside the window. The room was tiny and smelled musty. We asked for a different room. The second room they showed us was also tiny and smelled musty. It had a view that still made it feel like a basement, but at least it didn't have metal outside the window. We asked for a different room. The third room was bigger and had a full window view. It didn't smell, so we took it. We could see the resort was old and dumpy, but figured a clean bed and a shower was really all we needed. Our mistake was assuming the room actually had a bed. The so-called bed turned out to be nothing more than a queen sized metal cot with a thin mattress on it. OMG, that thing was so uncomfortable! At 3am we still hadn't been able to ignore the discomfort and had not gotten to sleep yet. My back was in so much pain!! We had booked four nights there, but we couldn't survive one. We started calling around to find another hotel with real beds and a vacancy. Once we found one, we packed up the car and checked out when the office opened. The guy at the desk didn't seem surprised at all and was very nice about it. Clearly he's used to the complaints. Jared's Wild Rose has been dying a long slow death. Best to avoid it and stay at a place for the living.

I decided to spend my 65th birthday at this place on Henry's Lake, Idaho and wished I had NOT…read more I have fished my entire adult life and tried to do extensive research on Henry's Lake in particular for a month before making the trip. I learned early on in my searches that someone in the state of maybe the State Fish and game or tourism board in the state of Idaho filters/disallows/removes any negative or informative utube reviews off of the internet completely. I had a very hard time finding out ANY UP-TO-DATE information about fishing on Henry lake and want to warn anyone reading this now that this place is ANCIENT HISTORY. I spent two days on and around this lake fishing hard and never seen one person catch a single fish. The lake was completely loaded with Algae columns and it is only 28 feet at its deepest to very very hard to troll. There were millions of gnats and bugs all over the lake so if there was any fish they were full to the gills with food. We did not even see small minnows or perch or anything. Sad to say they have not spent any money on this lake for years to keep the trout stock up to par. After being a 100 ton Coast Guard licensed Captain for decades and trained to look for conditions and reasons I firmly believe that this lake STOPPED planting any trout years ago. when you walk into the Restaurant tackle store at Jareds Wild Rose Resort ALL of the past big trout catch photos are all on polaroids and all from the early 2000's over 20 years ago. No newer catches on the wall of photos than that. CHECK OUT THE ATTACHED BULLSHIT OLD TIME PHOTOS, NOTHING MORE RECENT THAN 2006....!!!! This place is NOT going to tell you there is not fish but that is the case here. They quit spending money to keep the trout population up. 'They are going to always tell you to come on down and fish. They ripped me off and charged me a full day for a 3 1/2 hour trip with my grandson. I am disputing the overcharged room and boat with my bank now.... Not to mention the absolutely horrid room we rented "The Rose Room" for $390 dollars for one night, one bed two couches hah another story in itself. We had 3 cheeseburger plates at the restaurant and they were old purple frozen hockey puck paddies and I love burgers but not this one. $15.00 for a nasty nasty burger....... Stay fish and eat somewhere else, you have been warned!!!!!!!!
