Hidden Gem!! The…read moreLost Creek State Park Campground is a hidden gem nestled deep in the woods of Anaconda but well worth the drive. There are 21 sites nestled between tall lodge pole pines that look up to massive rock walls surrounding the park. If you continue driving deep into the canyon to the back of the park you will be pleasantly surprised to find 5-6 campsites that accommodate tents as well as small RVs (we have a 13'). Our neighbor had an 18' RV & it fit snugly in the camp site. We arrived close to dark, but the bonus for driving all the way back to the end of the canyon was a beautiful bubbling stream right behind the campsites that was generated from a small waterfall that was only a 150 yard walk on a paved trail from the main road. Don, the camp host, though a rugged man, was incredibly helpful and pleasant to speak with. As soon a we arrived, he showed up in his truck and made sure we had everything we needed & went on to let us know about the waterfalls behind our campsite and the Golden Eagles nesting above. In the morning, he made it a point to come by & let us know about the Mountain Blue Bird nest at campsite 2. Even though we had to drive through some questionable looking country neighborhoods to get to the park, it was well worth the trek from I-90. Lost Creek State Park is now our new favorite camping spot in Montana. Highly recommend!

Wendover is located ~3 miles west of Powell Junction on U.S. 12, adjacent to the Lochsa River in…read morethe Nez-Perce/Clearwater National Forest. It costs $14/night and features picnic tables, fire pits with grills, vault toilets, trash pickup and hand pump well water. The river is an easy walk. This is a good place for tent camping, though there are campers and trailers there as well though no hookups. Gas, a few provisions and restaurant food are available just up the road at the Lochsa Lodge but if you want real groceries you need to go over Lolo Pass and into Missoula around 50 miles each way. There's no cell phone service. There's a modest amount of separation between most sites around the perimeter, and many of the big trees are cedars. Though the road is nearby, traffic tapers off to almost nothing after dark. It's a popular road for motorcycles so the Harley riders are making most of the noise. The occasional westbound trucker will hit the jakes if feeling mean. On the whole, very peaceful and quiet except Friday and Saturday nights and mostly occupied by people going fly fishing along the river.

It's definitely well run and the spaces are wide open. We got an escort via golf cart driver to our site, which is always nice. It was kind of funny when the check in lady asked what year my RV was and when I said 2006, she informed me that they don't usually take RV's older than 2013, but I guess my Phaeton looks good enough. The place is surrounded by old trailer park homes and some look like they're about to fall down. Glad she decided my motorhome wouldn't bring down the neighborhood LOL. The staff was friendly and the general store there stocked local Huckleberry ice cream so I was happy about that. They have a bunch of cabins to rent, a nice pool which was packed with people, game room, and little 3 wheeler bikes to rent. Nice touch having a burger truck to grab a bite from too. This being in the city, there's not much to do as far as outdoor activities. We did play some miniature putt putt golf which was a lot of fun. Other than that, it was a way station for us on our way to Glacier National Park. I'd recommend it for a stop off to get to where you're going. That's really what I love about KOA's. You can trust that they'll have clean facilities and everything is handled tightly and professionally.

I was only able to make it to two different workouts and both times I was half awake, but they were great! I've never been much of a TRX person and the two classes I took were perfect for introducing me into it. I took the black light boot camp class that was 30 minutes which was perfect to get a quick work out in, and then a 55 minute boot camp that wasn't black light. Just think, lots of burpees and trx moves. It's hidden in an alley, and downstairs in a basement which makes it a little hard to find, but once you find the alley the signage is really good to find this place. I'll definitely be back next time I'm visiting!

We went all around the property through the fields. up into the mountains and even crossed a river! That was so fun!! Riding on the back of a horse through water is the best!!! All the horses are Tennessee walkers and the ride guides are very knowledgeable if you're in Missoula and looking for something to do this is a great daytime adventure.
