Love this store! If you need or are looking for any decor items, speciality gifts, local items…read more(including sweets!) and/or an assortment of older or antique items or furniture, this is your place. There's even a small cooler with unique drinks in the corner. I started following the shop on Instagram ages ago. So I was thrilled that they are close to my relocated area. The first time I was in the shop was honestly to only grab flowers to brighten a friend's day. Yet, I ended up walking out with an assortment of things - ribbon tape, soap, some candles, hand cream, Edmonton trivia cards, etc. Small but unique or local items always makes good gifts! I love so many things in this store and recommend this place if it's gift giving items you're looking for or even the extra self love/care items. I've shopped here for gifts that I felt I could further customize for friends and family or add to a group gift to enhance the selected theme. The staff is always very helpful when they see me looking at the displays or carrying multiple items (I walk with a cane so I appreciate their concern of I can hold onto something for a time). I've even suggested this place to others to stop at when they come to Edmonton as it's a very pretty store just to pop into quickly for future inspiration. Most recently I've bought myself bouquet filter to fix my seasonal bouquet (sadly the seasonal element to a Christmas bouquet was severely lacking from a different store - people let this be a lesson on you get what you pay for). The ladies suggested some items I wouldn't of even thought to consider or ask for. Some really cool red berry looking thing too. Happily I can report that adding those suggestions plus what I wanted together with the flowers I already had resulted in an amazing amount of virtual complements during the holiday. Plus I got what I really was looking for - that real tree smell in my little apartment! I recently had to reduce the filler in my vase to only the pine. So I can confirm their product lasts a good amount of time or longer than expected. I've brought multiple bouquets and floral items from them in the last couple of years and everyone I've gifted a bouquet has said the same thing. If I could give a 4.5 I would as seriously this place. It truly is a great as a store and the shop for the most part is arranged to give a lots of space to move around. This was before only a few people were allowed in at a time (covid restrictions). They even have the most lovely shop dog. Hand sani out at the front and easy to read signs. It's honestly the parking lot that makes it go down a point. As someone that is mobility limited, I don't enjoy the real life game of frogger. Especially in winter amongst cars entering quickly off the corner of Whyte ave and 96 St into the uniquely shaped and noticeably slopped parking lot. To make things really challenging for drivers (and shoppers trying to get to and from cars), there's one access point parking lot. Lots of times you see people backing up further into the lot or back on the street to get another car out or into the parking lot. So drive with caution, especially when reversing. Yes, there's a handicap stall and a few other spots near the door but that's usually the first to be taken. Especially if it's a long weekend. I don't mind trying to challenge myself from time to time with walking distances but it's the slope in the parking lot that personally makes me nervous in winter due to my lack of balance. The unique parking situation is not the shop's fault. One assumes from the look of the building, the footprint is definitely from the older days. Do keep in mind if you choose to park there, that the lot is shared with Earth's General Store. As you can imagine, being connected to a small and unique grocery store creates a very busy parking lot with usually few people waiting to go inside (due to limited number of customers allowed at one time). So if you can bike, bus or walk over, I would recommend it. Bike rack is located along the dividing wall that leads to the sister store of Maven and Grace. Bus stop is literally as close as you can get for a bus stop on Whyte Ave. I have also noticed the last few months a lot of people parking in the Humpty's lot across the street or along the other side of Whyte Ave (so not to be in the bus zone) and walking over. All in all, the shop itself is awesome to find that perfect gift or brighten your own day with something a little special.

Check them out too!), and I will definitely be back! When you walk into the store, it's just so beautiful! The products are nicely displayed, it smells wonderful and the prices for items are fairly reasonable. It's not just a store with a bunch of local knick knacks, but they have some unique kitchen supplies, chocolates, body care, beard care, jewelry, etc. I picked up 2 PLAYin CHOC which is like an organic kinder surprise. It's dairy, nut and plastic free and the little toy inside is either an endangered or woodland animal. When I open them, I'll post more pics. And also picked up 2 Karat chocolate bars, and oh my....are they ever delicious! They're a company out of Kelowna and I'm a new fan for sure! They're Pineapple Upside Down is scrumptious and then we also got the Milk and Cereal bar. Both are amazing! If you're in the Whyte Ave area, definitely check out Maven and Grace. The store is Nothing fancy just like the name says they are a Surplus Warehouse . Every item in there is Overstock , sometimes you will see display models or even damaged boxes. Even thou it is a warehouse Everything is clean and organized but they have so much product that it does take a long time to browse around. I think they only have 1 of each item in stock . I usually view their items on kijiji before I go there and you will find some amazing deals and the best part is that everything already includes the Tax. YOu can easily price compare all their products online because everything is current and all brand names. I bought my Kids a 12V ride on Quad for $189 and the same one at my local wally world was $ 299 plus tax. I even got a full 1 year warranty . My most recent purchase there was a Leather Sofa Set since my cats had destroyed our other one. They sold the exact same set at costco for $3400 + tax and I bought it Brand New from them for $1700, free delivery and no Tax. What more can you ask for. I have seen many an array of product at this place like baby furniture, bedding , luggage , lots of toys, car accessories, Tv's, Lots of furniture lamps and lights etc..... anything and everything. This place is quite the Jem if you have kids or just want a great deal and you want to save lots of money I would recommend you check them out. One thing to note is that they have strange business hours. They are only open 4 days a week from 12 to 6 and they a little hard to find as you are not expecting to see a store in an industrial area like that. I had to get my Iphone fixed at the Ipod Repair Centre, which is next door to Loan Star. It didn't look too sketchy from the front as I walked by, so I decided to just stop in. The sign outside said "Edmontons' Favorite Pawnshop", and it didn't take me long to figure out why!! the store was very well laid out, with sections for tools, guitars, electronics, and what looked like 1000 dvds' and bluray movies. Everything in this place was clean and well displayed. I was greeted as I walked in, but then left alone for a few minutes as I gawked at the 30+ guitars they had well placed on the wall. Then i had a conversation with one of the owners, who seemed to know as much about the guitars as the manufacturers did. He told me I was more than welcome to grab a guitar off the wall and plug it into one the many amps they had plugged in and give it a go!! Well, in the end I didn't end up buying a guitar, but did walk out with a surprise gift for my wife. I hope she likes the diamond earrings I got her for $200.00. They even came with an appraisal from the same guy I get all her jewellery appraised from. The owner said they get about 50 or 60 pairs made up every year due to the demand for them. I'm still not a big fan of pawnshops, but I am now a HUGE fan of Loan Star!!! These guys know their business, that's for sure!!

I can tell you that it reminded me of a huge garage sale. And who doesn't love a good garage sale?! I found a beautiful chess board for $80 that I considered buying but talked myself out of later. It was gorgeous though. I also found a beautiful old antique trunk. It was really nice. I wouldn't have anywhere to put it though so I didn't check the price. They had a lot of different things to go through. From Elvis pictures to old Coke bottles, to wood carvings - there was a lot of stuff. I put up some pictures because I think they show the store a better than I can with my words.

It's filled with beautiful old, romantic farmhouse furniture, some of which has been fixed up by Helen and her husband. There are stained-glass windows, wardrobes, dressers, rocking chairs, dolls, cashmere sweaters, sheep hair pillows, and much more to discover. I'm not much of an antique shopper, so I'm not sure how the prices compare to other places. Some of the smaller items seemed quite affordable and a giant wooden table was about $2,500. Helen told me she also rents stuff out to movie sets when directors are looking for farmhouse/country decor, so the items you buy may have a doubly fascinating history.
