Until yesterday, I had to travel out of town to Venice, Sarasota or Fort Myers to buy high-quality,…read moreergonomic walking sandals. Fortunately, I recently met Venecia of Footprints in the Sand Shoe Gallery at a Chamber event. She carries the top fashion brands from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Israel, and Hawaii. Venecia provides good, old-fashioned style customer service, taking the time to be sure the shoe is a perfect fit for your foot. Shoe brands she offers include Merrell, Avanti, Spring Step, Aetrex, Fantasy Sandals, Eric Michael, Italian Shoemakers, Island Slipper, Ethem, and Naot. Additionally, she has quality leather handbags, wallets, belts, and hats made from raffia and sea grass. Her prices are reasonable and her customer service is remarkable.

I just bought a pair of beautiful quality sandals in this small but charming hidden store,…read more "Footprints In The Sand Shoe Gallery" in Punta Gorda,. This unexpected gem of a store carries quality international brands known for style with comfort. You will not see the shoes you buy here on every other woman walking down the street. More likely you will be stopped and asked where you found your shoes. And although this is a small establishment, prices were as good or better than the on-line prices for the same brands. Selections ranged from about $40 to $150 dollars depending on style and material. I like genuine leather shoes and was not disappointed by the selection. You are greeted and attended by the owner, Venecia Demeck, who graciously provides the kind of service that makes you feel like a much valued long-time customer. She even offered to place custom orders for me for my favorite brand. Venecia, while new to Punta Gorda is an experienced shoe gallery owner who unfortunately lost her well-established store in Matlacha to Hurricane Ian. "Footprints In The Sand" also carries sun hats, leather purses and canvas totes at prices that are surprisingly much lower than what we've been forced to expect. This little store is a treasure for Punta Gorda and customers looking for quality, value and style without the need to go elsewhere or pay touristy prices.

One could not meet our time frame, one dropped the ball and did not call us back so we went with Roberson. WHAT A MISTAKE! The scabs were not covered with makeup, the large cut on one hand was covered only by his other hand, the scabs on his ear were not covered at all and the injuries to his head were attempted to be covered by a hat that had to be adjusted to cover the cuts but not to fit his head. Yes, we said something. By the time we had a chance to bring it to someone's attention the people were already starting to come in. That is not the time to try to fix it. After everyone was gone I was the last family member to say goodbye to him. I leaned over to give him a hug and his chest crumbled like it was filled with newspaper to fill the void from the autopsy. I broke down in tears and could not even say a word to the director. At the crematorium my daughter asked for the special panel that we bought for the inside of the casket. She wanted to frame it as a rememberance. They said "NO" the casket is already closed, too late. You will notice that I gave it no stars, I wish I could have given it a negative 5 stars. When you have to have a funeral for a child it is hard enough on the family. When you have to deal with a place like Roberson's it makes it that much worse. I don't know if I cried harder over the fact of losing him or over the way we had to see him for the last time.

Then the casket was put in a hearse to go to the Port Charlotte location for the cremation. We were all getting ready to follow the hearse like you ALWAYS do for a funeral procession. By the time we all got in our cars we looked around and the hearse had left without us. We had to drive to the other building without them. Just about everything about this place was horrible. I would never use this place again even if it were the only one in the area. I would have the body shipped somewhere else.
