I personally got some nice items for work, a floaty embrodered black and white skirt (£15) and a chiffon blouse with a fixed tank top over the top (£15). If you are looking to get some slightly different pieces for work or even causal stuff for spring you might be pleasantly surprised at this shop. The quality is not absolutely superb but the same if not better than some other high street retailers. The Mister was taken with their men's messenger bags and settled on a very stylish model that was waxed so it's rain resistant. At under £40, it was reasonably priced and it's good quality too. Kelly couldn't resist a smaller purse - again, stylish, sturdy and a great souvenir! The staff, despite being so busy, was lovely and gave us some good recommends for local places to grab a bite. The selection of clothes is stunning mix of different brands with beautiful handmade Italian shoes. I would recommend a visit as more independent shops like this should be open in our high street. Last but not least, we were offered a sample of chocolate by a French company that tasted absolutely delicious.

The renovation simplified the internals giving a more contemporary look. The owners are really building most of the internals by themselves like the wooden shelves on the walls or the till desk. Quite remarkably I must say. There are more dressing rooms, one for the gents and two for the ladies. The menswear selection includes an organic brand called Knowledge Cotton, which clothes are gorgeous when you touch them; a local designer called Eastie Empire Tailors that produces a line of clothing taking inspiration from the old days; Superga shoes and other brands. They have an interesting selection of man caps too from a London designer called Dasmarca. The womenswear selection includes several brands like Stefanel, HunkyDory, Selected Femme, Patrizia Pepe, Jucca, Hartford and etc.. A well mixed selection of different brands that gives you the impression that everything belongs to one designer. Congratulations to the buyer. The staff is always friendly and open to have a chat explaining you the brands and why they selected them. There is no rush or push, you can try on and come back when you want, these guys are really adding a service for free for you. This is what you would call a real local shop and a real local shop service. Buy local!

Call ahead to make an appointment, and spend 30 minutes being fitted up for a kilt, jacket, shoes, sporren... walk out with the entire ensemble in a green suitcase. Stephen, who runs the shop, will personally attend to you to make sure you not only have clothes to fit, but you know how to put everything on! (instructions also in the box). They also do a range of evening wear, ladies formal wear, smoking jackets, tartan shoes...and have customers from all over the world. A great experience when we needed something quickly. Shops like this should be treasured, and used.

Happy days!…read more Apparently Oliver Bonas has been around for a while but personally I'd never heard of it until my sister pointed it out to me recently. I think it must recently have expanded as I saw a big one has also popped up in the Bentall Centre in Kingston. It's similar to Joy in that it has homeware, clothes, jewellery etc. yet it's a little more kitsch and cutesie in that it has a baby section and is more predominantly focussed on homeware and gifts than clothes. I recently bought 2 gorgeous dresses for myself and a top for my mum - very reasonably priced and good quality. Yay for Oliver Bonas!
