If you like painting, moulding, sculpting, or creating, if you like having a fun time, if you like…read moregetting dirty, if you like smiling and laughing, if you like ANY of these things, even remotely, then 4Cats is the place for you! I found out about them via a Facebook ad and became addicted to the works of art that their studio puts out. Each week they release new and exciting classes and workshops to enjoy. Whether you are a kid, or an adult, or part of a family, there is a class for everyone. I purchased a class for my friends birthday. We did the "Expressionist Layers" workshop. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the girl who would be our instructor. We were given name tags which was a nice touch. There was only 5 of us so we were able to warm up to each other quite quickly. For this type of class there wasn't too much instruction. We were going to use the paint knives to create some abstract art, dry it, and then draw a quote or words on top. The instructor was 100% into letting us do what we wanted but offered great advice in terms of what colours to use so we didn't end up with a brown painting. I'm glad she mentioned that I should try white as it transformed my art into something else completely (for the better). The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that you have to pay for them to stretch the canvas. Having done Paint Nite, you get to work on a pre-stretched canvas. I dont know if I want to pay to put it up on the wall just yet. Speaking of Paint Nite, keep in mind that this is an art studio so it is a bit of a different experience. Paint Nite is more of a night out (drinking, full instruction, adults only, etc), whereas I found this workshop at 4Cats was very free will and more creative. I know that children are sometimes allowed in certain classes as well. 4Cats also offers workshops in different types of paints and mediums. Ever wanted to create a pottery bowl a la Ghost? Well you've found the spot! For about $25 you can get a few hours of fun with a friend, or by yourself, and create something amazing. We all came out super proud of our work and the instructor was so happy we were excited with what we came up with.

Do you like bars? Do you like to drink? Do you often wish there was something relaxing & creative…read moreto do while you are at one consuming your bevy? If you answered yes to all three then this is something you will definitely find right up your alley!! I like to keep my reviews completely fair as possible and as honest as I can be. So I must start by saying I am not the person who answered yes to any of that! But I can see the merit of this program and want to share it with fellow yelpers who might enjoy it. Jesse Robertson is the host/instructor for these Keep it Colourful paint nights and from what I've heard through people who have done both this and paint nite (a different facilitated event around town) she is by far the best! I can attest that she was easy to follow and made it as fun as she could. There are different classes at different bars around town so you sign up for the one you want to go to. For me personally I've never been the step by step stick to the program kind of painter so I found it difficult to enjoy the process as much as others around me. But I got it! I understood the appeal and what friends were raving about. From simple instruction to no limit on supplies offered by the end everyone had painted exactly the painting that was set out before us. Sure we all had a different sort of flair about ours but from a distance - same. Which actually speaks volumes of an excellent teacher. You might not believe you have it in you, I but might be surprised at how effortless the process is. You might just come out with something beautiful you created and didn't think you could. Again, this was not for me. Maybe if it were at afternoon tea and the subject matter was something I absolutely adored... but bars, at night, drinking... it's for someone, just not me. Still have to highly recommend based on how much fun everyone around me was having. It is as advertised, you will come away with that exact painting you signed up for whether you think you can or not. And the price is right too for a night of entertainment. So go for it! Get your paint on London, you might just like it.

We went to the Keep it Colourful Paint Night that Jesse Roberston was hosting at London Brewing Co-op a few weeks ago at the beginning of September. I love how she hosts it in different locations around London, it's a nice change of pace and atmosphere. The night we went at the London Brewing Co-op, was the Cat in the Windowsill, all painted with black and white. Which was a challenge to get the correct shade of grey, but it was so much fun. Jesse was very informative and helpful and explained it very thoroughly when mixing the colours, gave us a run through of the brushes and how to use them. if we made some mistakes, she informed us on how to fix it. She hosts these paint nights all over town and for a few hours, and some new learning techniques, and some fun, you'll have yourself a wonderful painting you painted. It's a fun learning experience and something you can do with your friends and get to experience the atmosphere of where you're painting and help local businesses out! It's a win-win!
