It was strange that they didn't have black iced coffee at this Starbucks. The check in office was spacious, process was fast and easy. Hubby booked our tour from a third party so he just paid fees for dock tax and snorkeling on site. Our private transportation got us here a bit early so we walked around and took some photos of this beautiful marina and ocean. They even had a massage parlor on the little beach. We were there in the afternoon so most people were already out at sea. There was barely any other people at the marina and it was so nice & quiet which is always what I prefer. I recommend book a tour here whenever you visit Cancun. Caribbean Sea is so beautiful and snorkeling gets you to tour the reefs and tropical fish even underground museum. Or just some sailing at sea is relaxing enough to have a very good time for a couple hours or even a day!

Took an hour to get to the fishing spot and after we had caught nine fish (everyone in our party reeled at least one in) we headed back early because we had some seasick people and it was raining. They filleted the fish we asked for and we ate them for dinner. Even with our choice to cut it short, it was still a great experience and would highly recommend them!

They are very knowledgeable about dishing and you can tell they know what they're doing. They filleted the fish on the way back to the marina for us but unfortunately none of the restaurants at our resort would cook it for us as some other resorts will. We hooked up a mahi mahi but lost it trolling. Then we hooked up on a blackfin tuna. It was about 30 inches and 18 lbs. Great catch and a great fight. They provide 12 waters, 12 sodas, and 12 beers with every trip. They also cleaned our fish and packaged it up for us. For an extra fee they are the only outfit I could find that would freeze the fish for us while we were in Cancun and then give it to us before our flight back to the States. They offered us various trips targeting different species and left it to us to pick. Barracuda inshore strips, barracuda offshore trips, mahi mahi/amberjacks/tuna offshore trips, sailfish/marlin trips, lagoon trips, etc. ranging from 2 to 8 hours. They use a 20ft. Mako boat that looked brand new with a sunshade. I am booking them for 2 more trips while I am in Cancun.

What made this trip so special wasn't just the beautiful resort, the food, the drinks, or the activities -- it was the PEOPLE. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay fun, welcoming, and memorable. We participated in SO many activities during our stay. We rode the FlowRider several times, played water games, did pool workouts, made brackets, enjoyed the themed dinners, spent time at the sports bar, ate A LOT of food, had plenty of drinks, and basically said YES to everything fun happening around the resort. The Fun Team was absolutely AMAZING! Oscar was our FlowRider instructor and was fantastic! We had so much fun that we went back multiple times. He was encouraging, patient, and made the experience so much fun. Guillermo was awesome with the pool exercises and brought such great energy to the activities. Claudia and Anna Banana were also incredible and helped make the activities so much fun. They brought personality, energy, and so many laughs to our days. The sports bar was another favorite, and Willy, Jesus, and Felipe made our time there even better. The food and drinks were great, and the service was wonderful. And the spa! Maria was amazing, and the entire spa staff made the experience relaxing and enjoyable. Honestly, what impressed us most was how many employees remembered us, interacted with us, and made us feel like more than just another guest. I've been to some really amazing Marriott properties this year so it was a little underwhelming to come here and experience the less than subpar hospitality items that I'm familiar with the Marriott brands. Let's go with the bedding linens and towels. The bed was super hard, it actually worked for me because I had slept wrong and the hard bed put me back in shape by our first night there. So for me, I didn't mind the rock hard bed. For my big baby, it did. We also got a double bed room because it was the room that was ready when we got there, we were sleeping together anyway so we took it. The beds were not two queens they were full beds. Luckily I like to lay super close to my partner so this worked for us too but patrons should know it's a super small bed if you're a bigger couple wait for the king room. We are both smaller so we didn't mind. The sheets were also super stiff. It gave hospital bed vibes. Definitely not a high thread count. My big baby made a joke that the beach towels were softer than the restroom towels and that was true. Not sure what kind of towels we got but they were not soft. The restroom was also average size but the shower was small! I couldn't even get in the shower with my partner that is how small it was. So if you're a couple who showers with your partner, like us, not happening here! The Westin had some really amazing nice workers who were awesome! The issue wasn't them at all, it was the property. It's older, run down, and in need of an upgrade. The other reviews are true, this is far from the action but I like to travel during Sept-Dec because it's less people, so for me this worked; it was an easy uber ride to the main area by the mall. Overall, this place is okay, not 5 star by any means. I don't complain so I had a wonderful time on my first getaway with my big baby and enjoyed his company. It did feel like we had a private beach and also felt like we had the entire resort to ourselves. So that was a plus traveling during this time, October. Would I come back? As I was there on a day pass they held my passport u til I returned the key card to access the gym/locker room and the two towel cards. I really enjoyed they have a lending library and I got to pickup a book while there. In usual fashion, pool chairs were reserved as soon as the day starts which made it harder to find a prime seat. They also had a competition at the pool area that was entertaining to watch. Restrooms could have been better marked for directions as I wondered we around for a hot minute to find the ones labeled on the maps. Maybe it was just me? Overall great day at the property and I'll stay here next time to get the full experience.

We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.
