We looked and looked and looked. There were many schools that looked good, but their class sizes were so big with only one teacher I was concerned my daughter would get lost in the crowd and would not be able to get what she needs in education. I came across Brownell Talbot in my research and remembered that a few of my classmates from Creighton went there and they were super well rounded individuals, so, I made my husband take us to the open house :) At the school, we found out that their class sizes in the elementary were usually around 10-18 students with two teachers per class. They have a well rounded curriculum where they have everything like math, art, history, but they also learn French, and for PE they learn swimming! That's way more than I ever had in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten! Well, I finally ended up convincing my husband that we needed to send our daughter here! All the teachers she has had so far were amazing! They are so friendly and caring and definitely know how to teach young children. My daughter always comes home telling us all of the new things she has learned at this school! We love Brownell Talbot and as long as we live in the Omaha area, our daughter will go here.

I come here nowadays because I live nearby and there's plenty of space for outdoor exercise. There're three levels to the property. At the top of the hill sits the school and new playground equipment. The second level offers a basketball court, more playground equipment for older kids, an adult exercise area, plus a baseball field. I'll often come here to shoot some hoops or throw some frisbees across the field if it's empty. When there are families and dog walkers taking up level two, the third level at the bottom of the hill offers an expansive field. There's a fence for the back of a baseball diamond, but the baseball field is pretty much abandoned. This is great for disc golf field work, sprints, etc. You'll see lots of folks letting their dogs run loose on this field as well. Room for improvement: For one, the basketball court is old. The hoops have been there since the '70s or '80s and are pretty crappy. It'd be nice to if they'd tear up the blacktop, level it out and put in some nice new baskets. Two, the fields on both the second and third levels do not get mowed very often in the summer, especially the third. This property is basically a school and a park in one, and makes up half of the namesake of the Metcalfe-Harrison neighborhood.

On the third day my husband went to pick him up and found my son running around out in the parking lot, unsupervised. When we demanded an explanation, the director would not accept any responsiblity for it. She said that it was my son's fault, he should have known better. She also said that we must have discipline issues at our house if my child doesn't know better that to exit the building without an adult. HELLO LADY...he's 2. How can she possibly think that a 2 year old can be responsible for decisions like this, if that were the case I wouldn't being paying someone to take care of him! The director is truly a fake and CRAZY!! Don't let this place stereotype all Montessori's, my boys are now at a true, accredited Montessori that has an awesome reputation and we LOVE it!!

As first time parents we wanted the best for our kid, and when doing our research we were told Legacy was one of the top schools in the area. We reached out and explained our situation before we applied, saying our daughter needed extra attention and they said they were more than happy to oblige. Within 3 days of enrollment we received a call from the principal that they were not able to accommodate us and that we would have to withdraw our 4 year old from the school. It's an absolute shame to see the kind of steps backward that was taken, the lack of communication that has been displayed from the few faculty members we met. The teacher barely gave notice to us at the meetup. We were dismissed almost instantly. As a black man I can't help but see discrimination at play once our kid was seen. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

Our children are more than ready for the next year of school thanks to the institution provided. We will have memories to last years from our experience and recommend this school to anyone in the west Omaha area looking for the right school.

Our first…read moreexperience (with a different Montessori school) was incredible but that school was bought out and the family first community and vibe quickly dissipated. After that, we were lucky enough to come across Montessori Academy of West Omaha. First and foremost, I have always felt as though each individual family is treated not only as family (as cliche as that sounds,) but the school understands each family's unique wants and needs. I am a teacher and wanted my kids home with me over the summer months, this is one of the only Montessori schools in Omaha that not only allows that, but encourages it because "what's best for your family is best for us!" even though that translates to a loss in tuition for the school. I have never once thought of Montessori Academy of West Omaha as a school that only sees my kids as a tuition bill, which I cannot say the same for the other school we attended. This school truly embodies the Montessori philosophy of "follow the child." Our daughter looks forward to school, her friends, and being challenged where she is at individually. The small class sizes at Montessori Academy of West Omaha allow for my daughter to receive direct, specialized instruction. We all know kids are not the same, not all kids are interested in the same things, this school has proven they can nurture each child in growing academically, socially, and emotionally. With my experience in Montessori for the past 10 years, trust me when I say, you will NOT be disappointed in sending your child(ren) to this one-of-a-kind preschool.

If you are looking for a place that is safe, loving, and will develop your child at their pace, this is the place to enroll.

Creighton University is big enough that it has just about anything you could want in a school including undergraduate, graduate school, and all the professional schools, but small enough to get all the personal attention that you would need. I really felt that I got a quality education here, and my professors really cared about my education. For those of you who don't know where Creighton is located, it's located in Nebraska. Once you get over the initial freezing your okole off, it really grows on you!! Jennifer Borelli is such a kind and creative teacher with her students. She has a focus on learning through the arts, which allows students to express themselves in a number of creative outlets. My children have come home with such beautiful projects! I would have to say that my favorite part of my kids' experiences have been the art openings that are held twice a year. We have a potluck which feels like one big family, and we get to see all of the art our little learners have produced. Another favorite is the field trip to Benson High where the kids get to team up with a high school pottery student to create their own works of art. Though she is focused on learning through art, the kids are still provided with plenty of opportunity to burn off energy through activities in the gymnasium. My kids have come home singing favorite songs and talking about the stories they read. The class sizes are small and diverse, which was wonderful for my kids as this was their first experience with care outside of our home. Our family feel so fortunate to have found A is for Art.
