Dear Coffee Yard, I love you, but for the love of God, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JUST GET A HOTPLATE TO KEEP THE FOOD WARM WHILE ITS WAITING TO BE TAKEN OUT TO THE CUSTOMERS!!
Why oh why, beloved Coffee Yard, do you seem to invest in EVERYTHING else but keeping the food warm! Why oh why must you insist on lovingly preparing the food and then going and leaving it on a cold metal shelf for 5 mins, RIGHT BESIDE the constantly opening and closing DRAFTY front door, in front of a line of queing customers, a vast quantity of whom are often school pupils who I recently overheard talking about the time 'Timmy' put a hair on one of the bagels just for a laugh.... how do health and safety even let you do that with the prepared food?
Why not move the food-waiting area to the top of the line or something AWAY from the drafty door or even BEHIND the scenes, UNDER A heated lamp like MOST restaurants do!? Poached eggs are not a dish best served stone cold.... next time I'll be going somewhere else for breakfast- I've had it with keeping my fingers crossed...nothing worse than a disappointing start to the day.
If you go to Coffee Yard and want hot food, stick to the soup, somehow its always stunningly roasting. I love you coffee yard - but everyone is beginning to talk about the 'lovely food if it wasn't STONE cold' issue...and it's starting to make us think twice about visiting...
I'm thinking of this as tough love, but someone needs to say it,
