Dr Wendi is so caring and knowledgeable. She and the staff do a great job and I'd never use any other Vet.

I highly recommend Dr. Friemel and Swann Animal Clinic on 45th!…read more My fifteen-year old Chihuahua, Poncho, had taken a turn for the worse, and I had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep. Dr. Friemel and her staff were incredibly kind, accommodating, and took over an hour to answer all of my questions and to talk about the different options. I normally see a different veterinarian office, which is also good, but they were closed and recommended Swann Animal Clinic. The exceptional care, compassion, and sensitivity that Dr. Friemel and the Swann staff demonstrated today has certainly convinced me to take my current pet and any future pets to her from now on. While I have interacted with many good veterinarian here and in the DFW area where I am originally from, I can safely say that Dr. Friemel has been the best. Thank you, Dr. Friemel, for making such a difficult time a less painful and for your compassionate care.

We were told as the hours ticked by that they had equipment malfunction. Finally in the early afternoon (she was brought in at 8am) they released her. We took her home and immediately brought her back where this man (Hodges) then came in and arrogantly said we'd have to pick her up at 5pm when they closed for the weekend and take her to the animal ER to be on oxygen. What!! I had pictures from the morning pre-treatment and she was fine. We'd never met Hodges and he accused me of lying. In shock we drove home where Hodges phoned and said "she's dying, she's dead." Our beloved little girl was handed to us at the back door in a body bag. Not ONE word of anything from Hodges or Kinser. We were and still are heartbroken. I posted on NextDoor, a city-wide media, and received pages and pages worth of testimonies from people on this man and his cruelty going back to the 1980's. Then I get a flyer in the mail trying to drum up business....are you kidding me. The cruelty continues.

This might be a bit long, but it's important to me. I…read morecurrently live in California (yes... I know), but I spent 25 years in Amarillo, where my longtime veterinarian was Dr. David Faulkner. Anyone who knows him understands he's a tough act to follow. Since his retirement, I was referred to Dr. Ryan McKnight at Canyon Road Animal Hospital. Veterinary care in California has become incredibly expensive, especially when anesthesia is involved. For my older dog, Dexter, who needed a dental cleaning and a molar extraction, the estimate in California was around $3,500. Even factoring in travel and a couple of nights in a hotel, coming back to Amarillo was still about one-third of the cost. I want to take a moment to acknowledge something important. I can be very intense when it comes to my pets--they mean everything to me--and I know that sometimes I let my emotions get the best of me. During the process, there were a few moments where I became upset on the phone. Looking back, I believe those situations were simply miscommunications. I was expecting one thing, and when I heard something different, I reacted before fully understanding the situation. Later, I realized that nothing had actually changed--it was just a matter of incomplete information. To anyone on the staff who had to take those calls, I sincerely apologize. I truly regret those moments and appreciate your patience more than I expressed at the time. Most importantly, Dexter received excellent care. The staff was kind, efficient, and professional, and Dr. McKnight was not only highly skilled but also genuinely compassionate. It means a great deal to me to know my dog was in such good hands. I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. McKnight to anyone looking for an experienced, patient, and caring veterinarian. Thank you again to everyone at Canyon Road Animal Hospital, and please accept my sincere apologies for any frustration I caused along the way. Melanie

I usually see Swann Animal Clinic, but since my new puppy was first seen by Dr. McKnight, I thought I might try him. If I like it, I might bring my other two doodles as well. It was the worst decision I ever made. The customer service is absolutely terrible, and the inside of this building looks disgusting--it stinks. Just being in there gave me anxiety, especially with my puppy. Not only is the service poor and the environment unappealing, but that's not even the worst part! When you have an appointment, you can't expect to be seen on time. I don't understand why they bother scheduling appointments when you end up waiting for hours. Dr. McKnight never even examined my puppy, so I can't comment on his skills, but the clinical staff is lacking. Mrs. McKnight, the supposed manager, isn't managing at all. If this clinic were properly managed, people wouldn't have to wait almost an hour past their appointment times. I'd much rather pay more at Swann Animal Clinic, where I can walk into a clean environment, be seen on time, and encounter friendly staff. I will never step foot in this place again and do not recommend going here.

They did a parvo test, came back positive so they gave her an "antibiotic." When we got her back she had a huge lump by her neck backside, they said it was normal. When we got her back she seemed a little off we thought it was the "antibiotic". 2 hours go by and she was significantly worse, still not eating, not responsive, can't even stand, locked jaw and her eyes started rolling back. We called to see what they can do about this they said they really can't do anything about it except for offering to euthanize her. They were in-comprehensive, money hungry, and only wanting to create opportunity for them to make money. We asked for advice and got nothing. We paid 300$ for medicine she can't even take and the other option was 700$ for a night at the vet and they check on them every 2 hours. My puppy is still sick and unresponsive we are doing our best to keep our Rosie alive these people have no intention to help, all they want is money. Would give negative stars if I could.
