Whereas 5 stars used to be reserved for a fancy restaurant or club, in times of "the crown" it's…read morereserved for a doctor who has Saturday hours! Dr. Raben has been my primary doctor for awhile now, and part of the reason I chose her is that she has Saturday hours for established patients without an extra fee as long as you have an appointment. Regular copayment is always better than an urgent care center copayment! She has a lab, x-ray & ultrasound machines in her office, which make it more efficient whether getting a routine physical or a diagnosis when you're sick. In addition to treatment, she also offers some nutrition related medicine such as the vitamin IV's, which I'm a believer in. Dr. Raben's also offered phone consults before it was trendy. Her staff is friendly and helpful in getting your appointments. Heads up, Dr. Raben is direct. Besides still keeping paper record like the old day her bedside manner is to the point and lets you know what you (and yours truly) sometimes might not want to hear about your habits and health. That's sometimes needed!

I have heard others say this but I'll say it again; she was hurried, careless, and lacked the…read moresocial skills of any typical family practitioner. She asked if I had "any other concerns" and before I could finish my "well yes.." she was showing herself the door. Also, the complaints about the incredibly rude and inattentive staff, are totally accurate. With that said- I had a wonderful young nurse who was kind and listened to me. That's the only reason I'm giving a 2 and not a 1.

On the positive side, I had very good experiences at this facility from a medical perspective for…read moretwo surgeries. On the downside, they overcharged me for the first procedure. This was due to a miscalculation on their part of what total reimbursement they were entitled to under the contract that have with my insurance carrier, and how much my portion of the insurance would be. When I pointed this out at the time of advance payment for the second, identical procedure, they insisted I had to make the same payment as the first time. This similarly resulted in an overpayment. This occurred 2-3 months ago. I have written them a letter and gotten no response. I called them and was routed by their phone system to an outside billing firm, only to learn that this company no longer handles South Florida Surgery Center. They have acknowledged that my account has a credit balance but have still not issued me with a refund. This is indicative of a facility with cash flow problems.

The Uhealth Concierge Practice is the worst experience I have ever had. They get you to sign up…read moretelling you they have this list of doctors but then the one you select isn't seeing new patients. I recently saw a Chinese medicine/Holistic doctor who was far better than any traditional "doctor". I digress...so when I needed to get forms filled out for UM in regards to my past history of vaccinations, called my insurance provider and they told me about UHealth. I called Dr.Dudley's office and was able to be seen the VERY NEXT DAY! I was so happy as it was such an easy process. I saw Dr.Lachanda T. Dudley the next day and immediately was greeted by a SUPER friendly staff. I was questioning as to whether or not I was still in Miami! Within 10 minutes, I was taken to see the doctor and she asked me a lot of questions about my family history and myself. Instead of trying to get all of the various vaccinations from my doctor that I saw, ohhh 10 years ago? she decided to just do blood-work and see what I came up as being immune to and run the standard tests. She was very friendly and nice and made my experience quite pleasant. Now on to the blood work that I had done in their office...Not only am I deathly afraid of needles, but I get very weak and dizzy when they are stuck into my flesh. This for me, is not a fun experience. I always have to ask the nurses drawing blood or doing anything that injects into my skin, to talk to me while they do it to take my mind off of what is going on. Most nurses just dooon't get it. They don't talk or feel weird to do that and it's quite annoying as it would honestly help so much. The "conversation" that they ask me does anything but take my mind off of the situation. However, I didn't even have to ask the nurse to talk to me while taking blood at Dr.Dudley's office as RIGHT AWAY she started asking me questions even before putting the needle to take blood. She asked me about school, work, everything and made that experience so much better. Honestly, it was the firs time that I didn't get weak or faint-like. She asked me even before drawing blood how I react to it and got water for me just in case. The entire staff was VERY professional and kind. I will definitely be returning to her as my primary physician. Definitely request Dr.Dudley. Just some info on how to find the office as it is a little difficult to find being in the midsts of all the UM campuses, etc... -When you come to Merrick drive you will see a parking garage and it is directly in front of the parking garage. You can street park or go into the garage and park in the spots that they something like "5 minute parking". When you park there, you can go and pay for parking. Then after you display this on your dashboard, you can park anywhere (don't worry there's a little attendant in the booth that will tell you all of this, but just in case he's not there you have these directions). Then when you come out there will be a door labeled 5513 on the left hand side. That is for UM vaccinations. It is not the correct door. There is another door to your right labeled "pharmacy". Go to the second floor past the pharmacy and to your left. That is the office :)
