Yancy Belcher is the best lawyer in the Middle Tennessee area - HANDS DOWN! Unfortunately, I have dealt with many lawyers in the past for both civil and criminal charges, and he is the only one who returns my call within the same day. His staff is excellent and treats everyone with respect. He is also great with my family members and lets us know what to expect throughout the process. I don't have him on retainer and I am not rich. However, he responded immediately at the end of the work day and then made time to meet with us the same day. Went to him when I was going through a divorce. I asked him if he had done a divorce before and he said he has done 1 divorce. He was very friendly and helpful so I let him do my divorce. Worst mistake of my life. He asked for all the money upfront. I was worried about paying for it because I was going through bankruptcy because of the divorce and he said to put it all on credit card, he would still get paid. He didn't tell me the bankruptcy doesn't absolve debts within 6 months of it so I had to still pay it. Also, he said to wait for her lawyer to send us a divorce decree instead of him and me making one. And every time we got the decree, he would tell me to take it home, look it over and then come back and tell him if there was anything I needed to change. He never suggested any changes to it on his own and every time I suggested a change, he would say "well her attorney will probably take us to court". He didn't even tell me I should have 50% custody. I didn't do anything wrong in the marriage but I only got every other weekend rights. And when it came to child support, he didn't even know there was a TN calculator to determine what I should pay. I thought I should pay 50% of my paycheck and so did he. So that's what I paid. He not only cost me valuable time with my children, he had me pay 300% more than I should have to her. read more

We asked for his billing of his time and he did not respond. He took a conservator case for my wife and spent more time talking to his previous client which is my wife's aunt. My wife's Dad passed away and within 24 hours he made a call wanting her to come into his office as if it was a crucial matter. The visit consisted if need another 5000.00 retainer and he spent less than 15 minutes in the court room for over 5300.00 she already paid him to get Conservatorship for her father who had dementia and Alzheimer's disease. We visited him today which Dad passed away yesterday morning. We asked for his proof of billing and he avoided to respond. His response was to auction off the house that he would have someone to clean out the house for her and auction off the property claiming my wife's aunt made him the executor. He advised in the case to give conservatorship to be split with my wife's Aunt who was POA that moved to Florida. Currently we are considering another attorney to complete this case who will follow up and resolve this issue. Our advise is for anyone who needs an attorney. Research your options. Update for August 30th, 2022, After weeks of not returning calls for this case, we requesting the bill for services that were provided to no response to his client to return her phone calls. Currently going to send a certified letter advising immediate response.this was originally written 8 months ago. Current update as executor Yancey has done nothing to settle James Evans Estate. Probate was over in January. While Belcher has control of Mr Evans accounts and home the yard has 4ft high grass...the electric bill and water bill is draining his daughters portion of their fathers assets after 9 months since James Evans passing Yancey Belcher has not full filled his commitment for executing his responsibility of an agreement he signed with the Evans Family. Currently considering contacting the bar association is in order for resolution. read more

Lowest quality service I have ever seen in any service industry situation. My brother and I hired him to represent us in my family's estate settlement and he did nothing, absolutely nothing except take our retainer money. I emailed him several times through out the process asking for updates and he only replied once asking that I call his secretary a set up an in person appointment, other than that, he ghosted us. I only wanted an update and did not want to drive almost 2 counties away for him to tell me he is not doing anything for me. What a crook to hijack someone's time and steal someone else's money while claiming to promote justice. read more

It seems to be a pattern in the reviews of not communicating or producing, I had same experience. I had to go to the State Bar and file a complaint. He said called and sent CERTIFIED letter and regular letter on same day (weird- why send a regular letter if you send a certified letter?) but could not produce anything to prove tracking/signature for certified letter, nor phone records and did not email coincidently. I asked for a simple estate planning, and when I noticed he avoided calling me back that sent red flags. He could not produce any notes from my file and "sent back" and lost documentation that I gave him. Weird, you send back documents I gave when the legal file is still open. He tried to produce estate planning documents to cover himself, however they were all wrong. I believe he is an incompetent lawyer and I doubt his integrity. read more

Awful. Charged me $6000 for a mediation case. He came to the mediation in unprepared. My ex wife proposed a settlement before the whole debacle started, and it was basically the same thing ended up with, he charged me $6000 for nothing. When I talked to him on the phone he talked a big game but when it came down to it, he couldn't do anything for me. read more
