I was greeted warmly by the young attendant and then headed straight for some samples. I tried the cookie dough which slapped and decided to get the piccolo cookie dough with salted caramel. She ended up having to put it in two cups because I requested a lid, but trust I wasn't complaining. In addition to the gelato, I got an order of the Brazilian cheese bread. While waiting for my cheese bread, I decided to help myself to my gelato. Each bite was better than the next and I couldn't decide which one I liked the best out of the two. The caramel paired excellent with the salt and the balance was just what I was looking for. The cookie dough bites were an additional treat and tasted delicious when all mixed together. After a short wait for my bread, I was on my way. The bread was cheesy, fresh, and had a good stretch. It reminded me of the pull-apart bread but nice savory and cheesy. I was hooked after one bite and although my intention was to save them for later, I only had two pieces left. I've had this a few times at a couple different places, but this tasted the most authentic by far. I can't wait to come back for more!

I tried the pastries, digging in to a chocolate chip-filled confection first, and I felt like I was having a very special treat I didn't necessarily deserve! The pistachio pastries and apple dumplings are wonderful too. The menu also includes savory items, coffee drinks, and more. Prices for baked goods are very reasonable; I didn't check prices for other items. The shop has plenty of convenience foods--snacks, fountain soda, and bottled and canned drinks--as well as grocery items. Staff is friendly. There's a low fence around a paved area out front which looks like it's about to be a patio, which is perfect. Leona Market is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

The warm and dignified lady running the shop is personable despite my linguistic disability. So by all means go treasure hunting here for some delicious and also fun Brazilian foods
