Two of our party had bruschetta for starters and absolutely loved it . Main courses of salmon , beef and lamb were consumed with much enthusiasm and were rated very highly indeed. Bread and butter sticky toffee pudding was out of this world. Coffees were accompanied by oohs and arrs so I can only assume that they were superb. Both times that we came, the food was bursting with delicious, fresh flavors. The halloumi fries had the squeaky bite they're known for. The fish and chips had a light and crispy batter and flaky fish. The cheese and potato pie was creamy comfort. Both of these dishes were recommended and ordering twice. The steak sandwich was tender and meaty. Desserts were sweet, satisfying, and left us all feeling quite content after the savoriness of our meals. We had the same server both times and she was fantastic! She was friendly and attentive, making sure that we had everything plus any extras that were needed. It's got to be said that the view here is phenomenal! The Corn Mill hangs above the River Dee, which gives spectacular views. The patio area makes one feel like they're floating above the river, while the dining room's spacious windows give a full view. Before you leave, take a little walk outside and head on down to see the mill that gives the restaurant its name.

Bwyty Mawddach is (I think) a beautifully converted barn, full of oak and slate and that breathtaking vista. It's run by Ifan and Amelie, with much of the lamb served in the restaurant farmed on the surrounding land by Ifan's brother. Downstairs is a lounge area, with the main seating area upstairs. I've always been in a big group every time I've been here and can attest that it's a great venue for friends and families. The food is largely local and seasonal. It's reasonably priced and there's a good selection. I've never had any complaints about the service.

The staff were all very welcoming, and we were all really impressed with the friendly, efficient service. The menu was full of English comfort foods...and they executed everything beautifully. Just look at my photos to get an idea...I tried the goats cheese and caramelised onion strudel, which came balanced on potatoes and perfect ratatouille. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, it is definitely worth popping in here for some lunch! *Pro tip: It sounded like they get very booked up in the evening, so ring ahead to ensure you get a table!!

His wife runs the front of house and is a lovely hostess and along with her staff made us feel very welcome each time we have been there. There is a good range of wines and I think they are very reasonably priced. The restaurant is cosy and while we thought it was a great find we werent the first to make the discovery. It is definitely best to book ahead. We have now been there quite a few times and happy to have introduced friend who like us are now total converts. My other recommendation would be to save room for the home made ginger and black pepper pudding. Covers with caramel sauce and vanilla icecream.im hooked on it.

The Architects deserve serious paise. Clean toilets mean a clean kitchen. This place certainly exceeded my high expectations which is rare these days. We'll certainly be back next year!

I must say that although the salad was refreshing, I was a bit disappointed by the lamb roast because it was quite dry and not tender as I'd hope and I had a hunch that it was not one that had been roasted recently, which happens I guess. So...I wouldn't recommend the roast lamb unless it was just an off day for the dish. However, my boyfriend's plaice was divine and I could have easily eaten all of my boyfriend's food. The fish was perfectly cooked i.e. not overcooked and the sauce was marvellous. Despite my dissatisfaction with the roast lamb, I still give this place a five star because it is a very good restaurant with quality food, beautiful setting, good service and reasonably priced - the early option from 6-7pm was only GBP17.00 for a large two course meal. I think if I'd not chosen the early bird option and had chosen the rump of lamb that might have been the far better choice. Great place to treat yourself to a fine dining after a day on the hills/mountains if you are in the north west area of Snowdonia or in Portmadog.
