Luckily, there was a German woman dining there that overheard our struggle and decided to translate for us. However, even after her hard work of translating, we still did not know what to get so we went with her recommendation. She recommended the ravioli with potato side, which is a Swabian staple. This was the first time I had this dish so I did not know what to expect. Man, it tasted gross but I tried to eat it to stay open-paletted and be a true worldly eater. Finally, I had to give up because I started to feel nauseous. The meat was supposed to be beef, my favorite kind of meat, but it tasted like....a type of meat I have never tasted before and never want to taste again. Staying true to my attempt to keep an open-palette, I did try this same ravioli dish again at another restaurant and it was good at the other restaurant. This leads me to believe that there was something deeply wrong with whatever I ate here. I didn't get sick off of the food but what the heck was I eating?

I lived in Stuttgart 18 years ago, and this stand was my go-to stop when I was in the mood for a crepe. During a recent return trip, I had wondered if there'd be any chance this place was still in existence. Admittedly I walked a bit faster out of the hauptbahnhof and across the street to where I remembered the stand being, and lo and behold-- there it was! I was reunited with my favorite classic crepe-- lemon and sugar-- and it was as delicious as I remembered! They have several options, the line moves quickly, and it's priced right for a quick snack on the go.

When The Burger Republic opened I was hopeful but cautious. As it turns out, their food is wonderful! Everything is made fresh and the quality of the ingredients is evident. My German skills were sufficient to order all my food and drinks, but some friends were able to use English just fine with the friendly waitstaff. When they first opened they were closed on Sundays, which is a drag, but they have since changed their hours. One time I was disappointed when they informed us they were completely out of buns... it was more than an hour before closing and they were still open without a fundamental ingredient. That was a silly problem, but it didn't turn me off of the place. I don't like huge, ridiculous burgers, so I was pleased to note their portions aren't enormous. If you want 2000 calories on one plate, I'm sure McDonald's will help you out.
