The best they would do was $1350 out the door ( I did not have that much cash anyway), so I declined and left. After thinking about it for several days decided to take the enough cash and pay the $1350 if I had to. I returned with cash in hand ready to close the deal. Simple, right? The crew was different than last week but the gun was still there. I offered the $1300 and was told that the best they could do was $100 off the price tag, PLUS tax! I said that we had negotiated to $1350 just last week and I was willing to do that still. There was much scrambling around. "Talked to the owner, talked to the manager, the owner was not there, the owner was there", etc. When it was all said and done they would not honor the price they offered last week. The manager was quite rude about the whole thing, although the employees were nice all along. Bottom line is I drove out of my way with cash in hand ready to close a deal. I was treated rudely and offered a worse deal than before, then treated quite indifferently. Both visits had employees going in the back to ask the boss, but no boss (if one was there) ever had the common decency to talk to me in person concerning a rather expensive item. While I have always enjoyed my visits to the Money Man and many gun shops in the area, I will never walk into Gene's again. Done.

With all of the race issues going on in the US right now, I couldn't sit around and do nothing so I vowed to further educate myself and become a better ally. Instead of purchasing new books off of Amazon or used ones off eBay, I knew I wanted to shop locally and definitely support more Black-owned businesses. As I read their website, I found out that they were the ONLY African-American, female-owned bookstore in South Carolina which I think is so cool! I browsed their selection (which is huge!!) and purchased 2 books: White Rage by Carol Anderson and Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. These books were great reads, but Between the World and Me was especially moving for me and maybe one of my favorite books on racism/racial injustice that I've read overall. After ordering, I was kept up to date through emails and my packages arrived quickly and with no problems at all. I have recommended Turning Page to my all of friends and I will be purchasing from them again next time I need a new read. 10/10!

The place was super packed, there were so many folks in there trying to get rid of stuff, kind of sad. I stood by a counter to get some info for something i wanted but nobody recognized me or said will be with you in a minute! There was four folks working there and i wanted to buy something.
