Turns out it was the DC input from the charger to the motherboard; although I can see why he would recommend a motherboard swap but I already spent $200 to replace the screen... it still didn't work so I couldn't use it anywhere except my dock at home :( I only put on an extra star because I might not know exactly what I'm talking about but my laptops been working fine since I replaced this part alone, saving money VS coming to this repair shop. Would not recommend coming here unless you can dedicate a full 24 hours away from a screaming, nagging wife to fix things with your own two hands. I had a broken screen on one laptop, which he was able to replace quickly and for significantly less than quoted by other computer repair companies in the area. He did a great job, and not only was he knowledgeable in multiple areas (such as computer repair, cyber security, and web development), but he was also very security conscious (he had me take my hard drive, not only for insurance purposes, but to ensure that my data was protected). He did a great job on the laptop screen replacement and I actually had him look at another computer that had previously "died" according to Geek Squad and which was going to cost me an extraordinary amount of money to fix - according to them, the keyboard and the hard drive needed to be replaced and the data on the dead hard drive was non-recoverable. Jeff worked his magic on it, and while the hard drive was not fully recoverable, he was able to recover a decent portion of it, while replacing the hard drive (including installing a new OS on a previously well-worn system) all while being very cost-conscious. Oh, and, the keyboard didn't need to be replaced at all. So much for those other guys :-P As it stands, I would definitely recommend going to Jeff for any computer repair needs. I will certainly do so in the future.
