I feel the need to warn everyone of the store I just had a horrible experience with. Just a heads up for any locals that may shop at the store Xpectations in Petoskey on the far end past Meijers, let me share my horrible experience I had there. Roughly 2-3 weeks ago I went in to buy some gauges (For those of you that don't know, gauges are basically earrings that are made to stretch the ear. Mislabeling the size as a 10 and not a 14 could be looked at equivalently as buying a window for your home that's labeled to fit your measurements, but ends up being 5 inches too small all around). The package was labeled size 10, but when I got home and was actually able to get a better look at them since we obviously couldn't take them out of the package before we bought them, we realized that they were in fact a size 14. So naturally I called the store and spoke to a very rude woman named Kimberly, who once I proceeded to explain the situation she stated that there was a no return policy. 100% understandable, if the package that they placed on their shelves had been correctly labeled. However they falsely advertised the size (which is illegal) and made the sale, which they're now refusing to make right. Kimberly told me and I quote "That's not our problem the package was mislabeled, you should be calling the distribution site." Did the distribution site place those items on your shelves, with your name as the face and front of the sale? No, your store did. So I called back today and spoke to the store owner, Christine, who was even more rude and literally laughed when I told her my issue and proceeded to argue with me on the phone. I simply asked her if she would replace the gauges if I were to drive all the way there from Cheboygan, yet she became fixated on disrespecting me and continuing to ask me what I wanted her to do about it. All I was asking for was to come in and get the proper size we were looking for to begin with, and all the store would've had to do was eat the $4 I spent there to make this right. Obviously, I don't care about the lousy $4, it's about the principle and the fact that they think they can break the law and then laugh in the customers face when I asked her to rectify the situation properly. It's not like I was asking her to do anything major either. So to all my friends who like to shop locally I highly highly recommend you skip this local business owner as a place to shop and get your body jewelry/etc elsewhere, if you want to avoid a major hassle, headache, and realizing how truly awful some people can be when your point outrage fact they've done wrong. Had both the employee and the owner handled this in a somewhat mature and adult manor I wouldn't be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the state of Michigan. They are located at 4762 S US Highway 131, Petoskey, MI and again the owners name is Christine. I will keep everyone updated on the progress and at the end of the day I hope Ms. Christine will realize you cannot own a small business like that and treat customers like crap.
