We had 7 starters and dessert. The Mangold with lemon and oil was delicious. Same goes for the fried fish and grilled octopus. The lamb leg meat melted off and was juicy and flavorful and the bread warm and crunchy. For two hungry people, it was perhaps a little much, but 6 starters would have been perfect Don't forget to add a serving of Tzaziki and finish off with honey cake balls. I would recommend making a reservation. We went Saturday night and if we hadn't called ahead, we wouldn't have found a seat.

The food .. mh, the meats were done delicately and nicely, but Kouros is surprisingly light on seasonings and flavors. Starter course was bland, and the salad they inserted into the menu was something that could be served in any corporate canteen. And if the 'mousse au chocolat with Valrhona chocolate' indeed had Valrhona chocolate in it, it wasn't the lion's share of the chocolate they used, that much I can say. Their bathrooms are smelly by the way, they should definitely do something about that. I don't get the hype, and Udo Lindenberg apparently never was in Greece himself.

Oh, and serving an ouzo on the house at the beginning and the end is definitely something that should be encouraged. PS why are the kids' menus named after Disney characters like Aladdin - and not Ulysses, Zeus, Alexander, Aristotle and other Greek crowd favorites? :D

I ordered the Gyrosteller mit Mextaca sahnesoße, tzatski und pommes. Very good, large portions, great lunch spot. The lunch menu comes with a small salad, main dish and a small desert. In this case, dessert was a cinnamon rice pudding with brown sugar. Very reasonably priced at only €6,90 per person. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our meal came out quick and they checked on us during the meal to make sure we had everything we needed and to ensure that it met our expectations.

When we went inside it was noticeable that we were the only guests there - Admittedly it was a Monday night, but still. This place did not disappoint at all. The joint is a small casual no-frills one with bench tables and a few regular booths. It's run by a mom and pops who speak no English but the menu was is in English and German. There is a small bar area with different alcohol. It was about half crowded when we dined. I had trouble deciding on lamb chops or gyro but then the Souvlaki sounded good so I went with that. I was craving some grilled meat and this charcoal grilled pork skewers is exactly what sounded good to me. I opted for the tomato salad and bread as my sides. Lo and behold, everything was so delish and seasoned perfectly. My dish came with 4 small half pork skewers, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and a side of toasted bread in a basket. My plate was garnished with a pepperoncini and Greek kalamata olive and drizzled with olive oil and a scoop of their tasty tzatziki which was made with thick Greek yoghurt. There wasn't a huge amount of food but enough to fill me up and fix that craving. I topped off my meal with a local Hamburg beer called Astra which was a sharp tasting beer and seemed to pair well. I joked with the owner that we will be back tomorrow but don't think he understood me. This simple meal caught me off guard and it was so good that we indeed came back the next night and had the same exact dish but with an extra side of tzatziki. The owner recognized us immediately and smiled as we entered. After we ordered the same dishes he brought us some shots of Ouzo. I tried Ouzo before and did not care for it as I don't like the black licorice taste. I did not want to disappoint him so we downed it. Yamas! I've been wanting to go to Greece for some years now and this place may push me to book a flight quicker. Even though we couldn't communicate with the owner besides my bad pronunciation from Goggle Translate, he was very friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my meals here.
