They're very nice and positive people, who bring good mood on the table. But I am here to tell you about the bar and not about nice people. First of all, if you're fond of great spirits and perfectly served Margarita, it's not the place for you. Don't get me wrong, they do serve good cocktails, but no for those who know about mixology. Nachbar serves lots of good classic Mojitos or for example Strawberry Natasha (it's like a strawberry smoothy with vodka). It's a good place to have a girls night and meet guys. It's a smoking place, which is almost unacceptable for me. I don't mind people smoking, but when then smoke is the only air inside and all your hair and clothes including underwear smells like cigarettes... Sorry. Location is a little bit tide. It's long and full, when it's Friday or Saturday night. Bar keep your mood up with a great music while you're waiting for somebody to come to your table. I have nothing against barmen working there - some of them are really good. Some of them are, however, slow and spending more time chitchatting with friends than actually doing their job. The drinks came surprisingly fast but where watered down. There were about 5 waiters to serve about 10 people. After finishing our drinks, we had to tell 3 waiters that we wanted to pay our tab. After 20 minutes we stood up and somebody finally came to us and asked us to pay. After telling him that we have been waiting for 20 minutes and waiting for the waiters sitting around chitchatting and smoking cigarettes, he told us Welcome to Germany. This was a horrible impression of Berlin, which lacks service but rarely hospitality. There is atleast five bars within the vicitnity of Nachbar, I'll recommend going to Green Door around the corner, which has tremendously better service and drinks.

Rather than just sitting at tables, people actually talk and greet each other. I've come here two days in a row and really enjoy talking to people. Besides the regular pastries, they have more healthier fare like salads and oatmeal with fruit. I love their apple cinnamon oatmeal with an espresso. Perfect start to the day and close enough to the hotel that I'm staying at.

I looked in the window and motioned for someone to come to the door. The older male bartender with the military style hat opened the door. I asked if they were open and explained that the door was locked. He scolded me explaining that the door is always locked; chewed me out stating I should've rang the bell. The doorbell is on the wall opposite of the door and not clearly marked as the doorbell of the establishment. I apologized and said it was my first time there. I went inside and sat at the bar. This bartender was utterly disgusted by my existence the entire time I was there. Is it because I'm a Black Man? American? The younger slim bartender with a mustache was very nice & helpful. He made me an excellent old fashioned. I told him this was my second time in Berlin and I'm running the Berlin Marathon. We had a nice brief conversation about the marathon and runners, and he invited back to the bar after the marathon. After I finished my drink I sat there with an empty glass for at least 10 minutes with no staff acknowledging me. So finally I waved to the older bartender wearing the hat. He rolled his eyes & head at me and then walked over to me. I told him I was ready to pay, and I paid him. Before I left I shook the hand of the nice bartender and he said see you Sunday. This is my second time in Berlin and third time in Germany, and this is the worst I have ever been treated.
