I'll add my tips below- *Bernmobil #20 will take you quite close to the laundromat. The front has construction but trust the map and look for Cafe Kairo. *Bring your own soap if you like, but a vending machine sells soap for 3 CHF i think. You can buy detergent at Coop and just leave your extras for the next kid. *Cafe Kairo was super nice about providing change! Drop some extra in her tip jar! **The machines only take 1Fr coins!! and you need 5-8 for each load to wash and another 3-4 to dry. *WHEN YOU START THE CYCLE YOU CAN NOT OPEN THE DOOR!! * If the cycle on the washer doesn't start, you might have the one that has a handle that really needs to be turned hard to the left. * The dryer named Harry worked well and setting 1 was for Extra dry. I was able to dry three loads this way by checking them every 10 minutes to swap out items. As the box on the wall that says Harry is used to provide power for the dryer, then you turn on the dryer and start the cycle. 1fr gets you 12 minutes. The time ticks by if you are drying or not. Don't mistake it for a change machine like i did! *Be nice, clean up, check your pockets *There is a Salvation Army one street over that sells BIG plastic bags for .15 Fr, and they are really good for holding laundry. I recommend not overloading and sort your clothes, turn them inside out unless the outside is the dirty part.

The machines seem to only take one franc coins for the most part, so I bought a water at the shop next door to get all the change I needed. There is no change machine on site. In general, our clothes came out clean and dry. I did have a similar problem as the other reviewer with the dryer, but I think it was because the settings on these dryers are a bit different than in America. The lowest drying settings will leave you clothes too damp, so I suggest opting for the "cupboard dry" option, which seemed to work reasonably well if you left the clothes in the dryer for one hour.

They even have English Panel Information. They have detergent 1 CHF, softener 0.50 CHF. They have Coin machine changes. Reminder: they only accept Swiss Franc!! We have to go to grocery store nearby, wait till they open, to exchange our Euro to CHF. I used the facilities on Jan 2 and the cleaning lady just cleaned them during opening. So the place is spanking clean. Have laundry basket and fold table. Explained everything to our local friends on how to use. We brought Tide Pod and she even gave suggestion on usage and drying time. Heard about vandals in the past. Hope they keep it safe. The only downside is how EXPENSIVE it is to do self laundry in Zurich, Swiss. Other European countries are cheaper.

I brought my own Tide pods from home (California) so I don't have experience using the detergent dispenser. The washing machines (I used two) were efficient and same with the dryer. Depending on the temperature you choose, it will take 25-50 minutes to complete a wash cycle. The dryers were great too. My small load of clothes was dry in 20 minutes Each wash in a 6KG (smallest) machine cost about $8 Swiss francs. Again, ultimate cost depends on the temperature you choose. Dryer is 3 Swiss francs for 10 minutes. I went by myself and felt safe. It's Switzerland after all. Tram to get here was super easy also. We stayed at the Widder Hotel and it took me about 20 minutes door to door. Hope this helps someone out there! If you're traveling for three weeks and a have a lot of laundry, at least in Zürich this is the place to go depending on your location. For me it was a three stop tram ride from our hotel also easily walkable. The laundromat is clean, seems to be well-maintained and has washing machines of various capacities and dryers all in good repair. There is a detergent machine on the premises however there is a Coop store right around the corner where you can purchase additional detergent or whatever you need. it's not cheap to do your laundry here. I have posted the pricing. Unless you ate inclined to wash your clothes in your hotel sink and then good luck trying to get them dry, you don't have too many, if any, alternatives. The cost for us to use three of the smaller sized washing machines And two dryers was basically 50 francs. Ouch. There's a table for folding your clothes and about six or seven chairs. A café is around the corner on the Main Street next-door to Coop to have a snack while you're doing your wash. This is a coin operated laundry. There is a change machine that accepts Swiss Franc bills and dispenses coins for the machines. If you don't have Swiss franc bills, there is an ATM machine facing the sidewalk in a building to the right of the coop store entrance.

It's pretty pricey at 5 CHF for a wash and 5 CHF for a dry; but hey, you're in the Swiss Alps. The dryers do not work well and your clothes come out wet even though the dryer runs for 1.25 hours. Even after a second pass in the dryer the will still be damp...and that's 15 CHF and 3.5 hrs of total time. If you must use, go ahead, but be warned.
