It's a large 30 or so lane bowling facility and incredibly popular at peak times. The lanes are well maintained and cleaned with few service issues. There is a limited choice of balls and, at popular times it can be hard to find the balls you want. Ramps are provided for junior bowlers and there's the option of having gutter bumpers up for individual bowlers as required. These come on automatically. The bowling system is computerised and there are limited graphics. I find it disappointing that multiple strikes don't set off a big noise or TV display as with some lanes! Shoes are in OK condition although they're not great. There's a gaming zone (fruit machines, video games, pool and air hockey), cafe and bar facility too. The drinks at the bar are reasonably priced and the food is actually pretty good value with snacks and more substantial meals available (all bar-type food). There's a small dancefloor for weekend evenings and the TVs regularly show main sporting action or pop videos. The toilets are OK but the gents tend to smell! Worth a trip if you're in the area!

Play Days is a large indoor play centre which mainly caters for children from 12 months to 12…read moreyear's of age. It is quite a clean and tidy environment unlike JJ's and also reasonably civilised! There are two areas one for babies/toddlers up to 4 year's of age and another for the older children. The two areas are well catered for and have plenty of equipment to keep them entertained. There are very comfy sofa's if you can manage to get one and they each have a nice little wooden table and chair in front of them for the children to eat at. If you do not manage to get a sofa they also have the usual metal table and chairs to sit at. The seating is arranged to the sides and front of the play areas so it is reasonably easy to keep an eye on your children. The food is also quite good and they serve homemade chicken nuggets which are quite tasty as well as the usual fishfingers, burgers and sandwiches. Play Days also cater for children's parties and my 5 year old had his birthday party here recently. Your party can be themed such as Disney Cars, Shrek, Wall-e etc but you have to buy their party products. I was impressed with the quality of the party food and the party table but was not impressed with having to chase the staff up all the time for extra orange juice and missing party bags. On the day they seemed very stressed and had quite a few parties going on at the same time. They did apologise for this afterwards though. Some of the staff are quite young teenagers and are not very welcoming and helpful. The older staff (who I think own Play Days) are very helpful but always look totally stressed out!!

Entrance fee is about 3.50 for our 1 year old. From the adult seating area you can easily track your child if need be. The sofas are very comfy. Also I would like to complement them on the quality of the coffee which is as good as costa in my opinion. Few points that would give it five stars. Air conditioning units very visible and noisy. Not nice to look at. Also the entrance area could be modernised. Overall a nice place to go to.

It is a friendly centre showcasing lots of different birds of prey from the tiny pygmy owls through to endangered vultures and beautiful Bald Eagles (there are even ferrets, ducks, chickens, sheep and deer on the park). There are plenty of things to see on your visit and if you want a rest there are 3 different fantastic displays to watch (the 2pm Valley of the Eagles is a must see). You can hold an owl, fly a harris hawk and cheer on the ferrets in their very own race (all included in your entry fee). There is also a play area for the children and they can collect stamps dotted round the park (if the find all of them and take their completed card to the gift shop they'll get a little prize). Duffy's restaurant serves up lovely hot and cold food throughout the day and the gift shop has some lovely momentos to remember your day. The best thing about the Hawk Conservancy is the friendly welcome awaiting you and the genuine (and infectious) enthusiasm and love of the birds in their care. Rain or shine you'll have a great day out.

I've been riding for 30 years, but have been out of the saddle for quite some time - the team have truly piqued my passion for horses and riding again. I wanted to have lessons with a view to buying my own horse again in the not too distant future. I've been lucky to get to know a number of the instructors and now work regularly with Kate Turner, the head coach. Kate has taken apart my 30 years worth of old and bad habits and has slowly put me back together again. I am now learning to ride at a very technical level and enjoying each step of the journey. My riding is better than it ever has been and I simply can't get enough of it! The team at Hall Place are friendly, experienced and willing to encourage a variety of competencies - dressage, jumping, cross country etc. They encourage riders to compete, hack out and enjoy the peace and quiet and even get non riders involved at their shows and cross country events. The horses are great, far better than I was used to in my teenage days (!) and the facilities are varied with indoor and outdoor schools, cross country course, tack shop and coffee shop! I am due to loan one of the horses for a week in July - I fear it may be a slippery slope to a purchase!!
