I have never encountered a healthcare network where appointments are scheduled routinely, only to be canceled or rescheduled later by the providers themselves. While I understand that unexpected issues can arise, this has become a consistent pattern across multiple physicians within this network. When several different doctors repeatedly cancel appointments due to being "out of the office," it reflects a systemic problem rather than isolated incidents. Most recently, I received a call on the day of a scheduled specialist visit informing me that my appointment needed to be changed yet again. Patients are expected to arrange time off work, transportation, and other responsibilities to attend these appointments, and frequent last-minute cancellations show a lack of regard for those commitments. This organization fraudulently bills preventative care visits and procedures as non-preventative. They do this to subvert the ACA and they do it intentionally. If you have an annual physical or any preventative screenings check your bill - they likely submitted the billing to your insurance company with non-preventative billing codes. This will cost you money - and again they are doing it intentionally. read more

I do not recommend anyone going to Tyler Fleming intern for behavioral health medicine. I got tested for ADHD and mind you I have been having these symptoms since I was a CHILD, they have gotten worse throughout my life. I truly thought he was going to help me, but no he did not. I got tested for ADHD and the test came back "invalid", he then told me my insurance would not cover for me to take another test (he didn't even speak to my insurance). I then called him and asked him if he could send over why the test was "invalid" to my insurance because they needed proof in order to retake the assessment and he told me "he could not do that". For someone to be in behavior health he obviously does not care about his patients very much. I have struggled, and I am still struggling tremendously with ADHD. I would not recommend anyone going through him to get answers. He WILL NOT HELP YOU. I am furious with this outcome and something needs done about it. He could not give me an answer why the test came back "invalid", AND he never followed up after he said he would. I am beyond PISSED. I am not the one to throw someone under the bus by no means but he clearly does not know what he is doing with his patients. read more

I noticed that Forest C. was hit with an exorbitant amount for lab work. I was also hit with a large lab bill a few years ago for $1300.00s. Then the last $100.00 they claimed I did not pay. I had to get the WV State Attorney General involved. I still spent months getting the fraudulent account off my credit report. Another time I was hit with a bill for a $100.00 when I was only supposed to pay a $60.00 co-pay (specialist visit) - total $160.00. The most recent issue involved a trip to the emergency room and WVU billing said they would put the bill in a 90 day hold. However, they sent it to the internal collections department. I gotta say the collection letter looks really intimidating. To bad I can't get a hold of anyone in that collection department to discuss the matter. Anyway I am filing a consumer complaint again with the WV Attorney General. They said, they would gladly step in and help mediate on my behalf. Garbage billing practices. I had surgery over a year ago and I keep getting NEW bills for random amounts that they don't bother to explain either through MyWVUChart (which is essentially a virtual wastebasket where your messages go unread) or on the phone, where so far people I've talked to have been uninformed ("I'll look into it", "I'll get back to you" and then you never hear from them again) or downright rude. My insurance, on the other hand, tells me WVU Medicine has tried to double-bill me several times and they've had to decline the claims. Most recently, I got a $3,000 bill from WVU Medicine and when I asked what it was for considering the thousands of dollars I and my insurance have already paid them, they said it was a mistake and lowered the bill to $400. If I hadn't asked, they'd have simply pocketed the $3,000. When I asked why it took them over a year to send me yet another bill, they said it was because my insurance hadn't processed the claim. When I called my insurance, they showed me how they'd paid all the valid claims in under a month. The lack of transparency is unacceptable and it's not as if you can't get medical treatment that is just as good if not better if you drive a few miles more. As it is, I'll avoid WVU Medicine like the plague and even pay out-of-network costs to spare myself the aggravation of dealing with their billing department. read more
