If your answer is anything higher than "Maybe Once?" then this is the station for you, and I have a couple of followup questions. What's it like to be frozen in a glacier for 14 years, and are you disappointed we don't have flying cars yet? This station is always on in the background at work, and it makes me want to die. Prior to starting this job a month ago, I didn't really have an opinion on Michael Bublé. Now I want to set him on fire. How can a station that plays songs spanning the last half century have such a limited selection? It doesn't make sense! Lately, they've been playing this commercial about how you could win 1,000 free music downloads. The commercial explains that with a 1,000 song library, you could drive all the way across the country and still have songs you haven't listened to yet. Which makes me wonder, how many songs are in Magic's library that I can hear Spandau Ballet every single day? If it's about money, WMJX, give me a call. I don't have a lot, but I'll gladly buy you an iTunes gift card or something if it means I can go a few days without hearing "Tears In Heaven" again.

One of the best radio stations I have ever had the pleasure of listening to on a wretched morning…read morecommute. A couple of things I really liked about WERS: - Very eclectic mix. I could have done without their proclivity for Peter Gabriel and the Talking Heads but hey, they overcame that by introducing me to Blitzen Trapper, Frightened Rabbit, Lissie, Deer Tick, as well as playing some of the artists I already loved such as Bob and Jakob Dylan, The Decemberists, Steve and Justin Townes Earle. - Independent radio station - no corporate playlists and no commercials - Run by college kids

This is the worst college radio station in America, which is nuts because 30 years ago it was among…read morethe best. College radio is widely understood as the freeform radio vanguard, where one can hear musical offerings unavailable on commercial radio. When I tune into a college station, I don't want to hear a single song I know. 99% of what WERS plays nowadays is Top 40 "alternative" music from the 80s and 90s. Stuff I've been sick of for decades. Honk shoo. It's a college station masquerading as a commercial station masquerading as a twenty year-old iPod. If you are a retailer looking for the most unchallenging background noise for your shoppers to ignore, or perhaps a listener looking for a radio station to convince you that not only has there been no good music made in the past 35 years, but also that maybe music was just never good, WERS is it.

I typically use Yelp to review businesses like restaurants, not radio stations. But I love Karson &…read moreKennedy, so I figured why not review them the same way I would a new trendy eatery? When you're at K&K's, you're family, and not in the "we'll charge you too much for phony Italian food" way. The smiling face of Annie Dow greats you warmly and makes sure to get you a good table right away. She'll also make you laugh even if you feel bad her hostess salary means she is still living at home and probably makes out with the hunky bartender between shift changes. When it comes to service, Salt Mac gives you everything you need. And when you ask about the special, he's going to tell you honestly that it's not good. His boss wants him to push the special, but it's garbage and he's not going to lie to you about it. But if you're there on a date that isn't your spouse, don't tell him unless you want Matt Nathanson inadvertently breaking the news to the world. Chefs Karson and Kennedy compliment one another's styles by creating complex dishes with many flavors. Whether you're single or married, strong willed or whipped by your wife, monogamous or polyamorous, you will find relatable morsels every day. Even though the bathrooms have strange wallpaper and cars keep getting sideswiped in the parking lot, you'll be laughing too hard to notice. And last but never least, the rapping bus boy, Dan the Man, makes sure you leave with a smile on your face. He'll even wrap everything up for you in a doggy bag podcast. Ok, so he sleeps at the restaurant, but at least he doesn't drive home under the influence! Karson & Kennedy is a feast for the ears. Make them your go to neighborhood spot where everybody knows your name but might call you by their ex's name.
