Rebecca does an incredible job at respecting the time and needs of both the teachers and families involved! Saying this from experience working at other studios, scheduling lessons and makeups can be extremely time consuming, but Rebecca made sure to do all communication possible for us. I would highly recommend working there if you are a graduate music student or someone with a busy schedule. For families searching, the teachers are all at a uniquely high professional level, recitals are organized well, and scheduling is great. Absolutely choose Overture School for your child's music lessons!

Rebecca, the studio owner, is so sweet and was always willing to work with our schedule to make sure lessons happened at a convenient time. Our teacher was Caitlin and she is a really lovely teacher. Caitlin is extremely positive, encouraging, and always knew how to get my "wild child" back on track if she was distracted during lessons. Whenever things got challenging, Caitlin came up with creative ways to teach new concepts and kept my child's interest peaked. She also encouraged creativity and when my child decided she wanted to compose a song she even typed up the song for her to perform at a recital! Overall, I highly recommend this studio if you're looking for a great, positive piano lesson experience.

I've been coming here for the past 12 years or so for books and sheet music. I was first introduced by an old teacher and I've been a patron ever since. This place is huge and has every piece of music you could think of. Many of the gems are hidden inside file cabinets. If you're lucky, you may be able to find first edition concertos. I shopped here during college for technical books and etudes. I now shop here for my own students and leisure. If there seems to be a tune you just do not know the name of, give it a quick hum and the staff will 99% of the time know exactly what you're talking about! They're great people, all musicians and vocalists. Not so much the musician? Just drop in and check out the bulletin board for teachers/lessons of all levels. Or give me a ring if you want to play some piano =)

We discovered Texas School of Music through their summer camp, and it turned out to be a wonderful…read moreexperience for our family. Both of my kids (ages 7 and 9) absolutely loved the camp with Mr. Sal. He is incredible with children, engaging, funny, and truly passionate about fostering a genuine love for music. They learned far more than I expected in such a short time, and the weekly recitals were a highlight, giving parents the chance to hear the kids play and sing. It's easily one of the best summer camps in Bellaire. The experience inspired both of my kids to continue their musical journey. My 7 year old now takes piano lessons with Mr. Sal, while my 9 year old studies with Mr. Roscoe. Although they have different teaching styles, each approach perfectly matches my children's personalities and learning needs. We couldn't be happier with our experience at Texas School of Music.

She studied first with Ms Estefania and later Ms Michelle, and both have been incredible with setting progressive yet realistic goals, clear communication with parents, and most importantly making classes fun and something my daughter is happy to come to every week. There are multiple performance opportunities a year, which is a big confidence booster and makes the repetitive practicing of a single piece very rewarding. The receptionist, Ms Bonnie, is also very sweet and helpful; even my younger daughter, who doesn't take music lessons, loves to come in and hang out. Thank you TSM!

We were also able to purchase musical supplies at DDC like rosin for his bow, as well as music books. Coolest thing to watch was during a recital, to see that adult students performing, and students performing poetry. I highly recommend DDC school of music.

This review should in no way reflect poorly on the teachers, because, for the nearly 12 months we…read morehave had both of our children enrolled in piano at the school, the teachers themselves have been wonderful. The problem isn't the teachers, and it's a shame that they be punished. But its the management, specifically their policies, which are decidedly not customer friendly. I would recommend first that people find another place to teach their children music. However, if you still decide to go here take this piece of advice and read the policies carefully. Here's the big problem for us; you pay all your fees for a month's worth of lessons up front at the beginning of the month. Okay, that's understandable. However, if you know you are going to be out of town for a week or two you can't just pay for the 2-3 weeks you are going to use. You still have to pay for the whole month regardless because if you don't the management "can't promise they won't give your spot or teacher away to another student." Okay ... that's weird, so can I roll over that time to another month? No. So I'm just paying for time I don't use? No, you can do extra or make up classes! Okay ... so when do I do make up classes? In off times, with different teachers whenever they fit us in, and it's never your time because that's already paid for, it has to be another time, which of course won't fit into your family's schedule. Okay, well families with children never have emergencies or times when things beyond their control happen, right? How does the school handle rescheduling. Answer? They don't. I asked around my neighborhood message boards and found out that 10 other families had left the school as well due to the policies of the management. Basically, if you sign up for this school you have to commit as a family to never go on vacation or have any other time conflict with the time you set up for your children until the day you leave the school because you will be required to pay your fees not matter what, with very little effort to help make up the classes, and you will lose that money. We loved the teacher we had, but after throwing over $800 away with no hint of empathy or desire to please the customer from the management, we had to quit.

I began taking lessons for bass guitar in 2016, but there wasn't much music theory to it or the…read moreinstructor would ask me what I wanted to learn. That was frustrating to me because the instructor didn't want to follow their own program. As a new learner I didn't know enough about playing music to know what I needed to learn. However, in 2018 when I found out about Heaven's Republic Institute of Worship I began taking lessons there and continue to do so along with one of my daughters. The staff is very knowledgable and teaches not only how to play a song, but each instructor teaches music theory as well. I also like the structure in which each student is learning their particular instrument. Keyboards are usually taught separately from guitars and then everyone is brought together learning how to play as a band. From my perspective, KJ has been an inspiration for learning bass guitar because there are so many techniques and styles to playing bass and he pretty much knows all of them, which has given me a lot of tools to use. I highly recommend Heaven's Republic Institute for anyone wanting to learn an instrument with a structured program. Jeff D
