I just got the water heater fixed. Now the roof has issues. And since I live in California I'd have to schedule everything thousands of miles away and hope for the best. Unlike the water heater, I don't have a trusted roofer. In fact, I've never had a problem with my roof. So this was going to be a completely new experience for me. By the time I got the message it was already 6pm est. so I figured I'd just leave emails and phone messages and hope someone would call me back the next day. Yelp doesn't seem to have too many highly reviewed roofers in Raleigh, so I just called and emailed the top few that I saw. I did get the answering machine on every call except for Olde Raleigh Roofing. Daniel the owner answered even though it was after hours and he was very nice on the phone. He explained what might be the issue and said he'll contact my tenant directly and send some guys over. Once they were over there they would take pictures and email them to me with a price quote. If approved they would start work immediately. I thought great let's do it. I also wanted to get some other quotes and compare them, since I've never had a roof issue, but only 1 guy called me back (one of the larger roofers) and that was 4 days later. And even that guy didn't follow up with my tenant. Long story short, Daniels guys came out, took pictures, Daniel emailed me the pictures and gave me a quote. It sounded fair and came with a warranty, so I approved the work. After the work was finished Daniel sent me another set of pictures of the completed work and emailed me the invoice and warranty for me to sign and send back to him. The roof looked great in the pictures and my tenant was happy. It's already been a few months and no more leaks. I'm very happy. Overall the experience was great. There were some communication problems early on, which may have been due to the long distance and/or tenant. But in the end, everything was great and I'm really happy to now have a trusted roofer on my services list.

There were issues immediately with low estimates and miscalculated material costs. Because of that my insurance company has had to issue multiple checks, costing me both time and money. In terms of the actual work, roof flashing was skipped entirely upon roof replacement, later identified as a flooding hazard. Also, the roofing shingles were supposed to be Dark Gray and they were installed Light to Medium Gray. I could probably have pushed the problem but decided against it. For ceiling damage, the worker subcontractors interpreted the work as painting only even though the estimates stated sheet rock replacement, so that had to be rescheduled. For another ceiling on the 2nd floor, after the work was finished, there were scuffs and small dents and the project manager accused me of fabricating the damage. Lastly, one window screen was not installed flush with the window and was later corrected. It has been a full year and works remain incomplete.

I received an email addressed from Matthew Zinn He stated they could make it out that day to measure and begin the estimate. I told them that we would be home at 4 if that worked for them. He wrote me back a few hours later stating that they had already been out and measured and they would send me an estimate soon. Keep in mind that at this point we hadn't had any communication except that I wanted to have my house resided. I hadn't heard or seen anything from him on January 23rd so I sent an email asking if he was still going to send an estimate. He stated it was just about ready and he would send it that evening. About an hour later, I received the estimate. One of the most interesting parts of the estimate was that the siding would be similar to our neighbors. Unfortunately I had no idea what neighbor was being referred to in the estimate. He stated to let him know if we had any questions. I sent him my list of questions, also on January 23rd, 21 minutes after receiving the estimate. I haven't heard any response to my questions or anything else. Needless to say, I am looking to other companies for the work we need done.

At first glance everything seemed fine, but then we noticed a large wet spot where paint had clearly been spilled and they tried to clean up without telling us. There were also 4 small stains elsewhere on the carpet, 2 from where they left the paint cans dripping on the floor. There are drops of paint on our light switches and the baseboard. If this is how they handle a basic job we have no faith in a larger one so have asked for the deposit back and never got the portico. They are responsive about complaints and offered to clean the carpet. They did refund us and when it was clear the carpet was damaged beyond being able to be cleaned they gave us some money to replace it. This is the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1.
