The location was perfect to discover the old city centre and to do some shopping. The hotel staff were a combination of efficiency and friendliness. The room was spacious and well equipped. An air conditioning might have been welcome but I can imagine that so high up north they are not really used to the heatwave we were having. In one word: fantastic! We spent our holiday in Metslawier…read morein the binneninn of Bianca and Edword. Metslawier is a nice little village between Dokkum and the "Lauwersmeer". For shopping you should be flexible (car, bus, bike and be in a good condition) because there is no shop in the village. You can find everything you need in Dokkum, a small town a few kilometers away. The Binneninn is a former school for agriculture and domestic management. The building has been renovated and designed by Bianca and Edword and you can see that they lay all their hearts in this project. Of course it is always a matter of taste but we loved the interior very much. We spent our time in the main house. It was a new experience for us because in that house we had incredibly much space. The furnishing was well balanced (color and style) and really nice. The bed (box spring bed) was the best we ever slept in during our past holidays and the bathroom... Oh boy! Not to forget the kitchen. Fully equipped with everything you need and more. There are two sofa in the kitchen and a table for easily ten person. Our daughter(4 years) was in heaven because in the backyard there are three horses, two goat,a dog and a few chicken. They have a swimming pool and paddock with sand (our kids used it as huge sand box). Everything is clean and looks absolutely great. We absolutely recommend it.

The rooms are very spacious and catering to a more demanding traveller (the suite is really a recommendation!); the service authentic and friendly and the breakfast is more than good. Its fantastic! Best croissants I've had since france (where do they get them from??) and diverse plate of savory and sweet delights. Also stopped by here for a snack (shrimp croquettes) and a wine in the evening, bot of which were excellent in taste, as was the scone we had the next day. Somehow, we just kept coming back to this place.

I have rarely enjoyed a restaurant in a tourist designation this much!

Our room was up two flights of stairs, but that seems typical for European hotels. Separate shower and toilet, but there is a sink in the room. There was breakfast provided, which included fruit and hard boiled eggs, in addition to the typical assortment of cheese, bread and meat. There is a nice bar in the lobby, which is the perfect place for a drink after exploring the town. I would recommend staying here if you need a room in Leuwarden!
