We didn't get our drinks until we asked 3x and finally got it after we were half way through our entrées. Absoultely delicious. Came here on a lovely day out on a date and the food was just like back home. The pate with herring was just like my aunt used to make. The service was pretty standard. My only gripe was the fact that there were no more smoothies available to go with our meal. My date had the Turkey which I thought would have been more like a stew and I had the salmon which was totally worth it. We left with extra food. Portions were nice! The food was delicious. We tried one appetizer and three different dishes which I strongly recommend. Eat dish comes with a choice of rice and a salad. They also have a pickled onions on each of the dishes that has a kick of heat. We ate at the restaurant, the service is slow so be patient and there were some fruit flies around BUT this place is a gem and a whole in the wall. I can't be mad at a restaurant for being understaffed - I truly think they just need more business. I ordered the fried fish, their homemade lemonade, and papaya juice. This restaurant was a good find. I really wanted some Haitian food and tried this spot. I called in the order and inquired about a few dishes. At first it didn't seem like she wanted to answer but then she came around and got nice. It was like night and day lol. I ordered the seafood legume and black rice. When I arrived I parked on tbe street. It was a cute set up when I walked in and I was greeted. Great portions... through Uber eats, I ordered the lambi, the criot lakay , the tasso de beuf, the chicken creole and the Haitian rum cake. I did not receive the cake. Instead I received a smoothie... I don't know what flavor, it was too thick and separating. Not too nice on the palette....The food was warm upon delivery... I couldn't enjoy my meal due to it being extremely spicy.... Don't get me wrong, I love spice, but this was over spicy. Upon asking to use the restroom the female host was very rude stating that I was not allowed to use the restroom even after me showing the order I was there to receive. She then states that I can cancel the Order after I stated she was unprofessional and being rude. I've been a frequent customer at WOULIBAN Rest. for about 1 year now, often they will send me the wrong items I usually give them a pass, meaning I appreciate that this business was opened during Covid. Many times I've ordered 3 or 4 times in one week. Last night around 8:30 pm, I ordered the fish with rice and beans,I wanted the $25 fish I was told they only have the $40 I said ok. When I got the fish after 9:30 pm it wasn't cooked properly, taste and looked uncooked and I was sent black rice, today I called and explained that I am bringing the fish back and I want another with the correct rice for my money, when I got there the fish wasn't ready I showed her the fish and told her about the rice,I waited 15 minutes when I got home I realized she refried the same fish and apologized.How do I know because I ate a part of the fish then realized that the fish wasn't cooked?She refried the same fish probably in the same oil that every other fish will be cooked for the night? The service could be better in terms of how organized they are, however I went there during a busy period (5pm on a Saturday) so that could be the reason. I got the calamari for starters, which was very well seasoned and a bit spicy so if you can't stand spice you should look to an alternative. The Griot and Pikliz was delicious, the summer passion smoothie was really good too. I loved the decor and set up, it's really pretty. I'm giving them a 3 because they need to hire more people, but I do understand that is a new business. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for early dinner and were greeted by a very nice lady. The problem was as she was the hostess the waitress and the cook so it took a long time to get our orders and and even our check. For appetizers we had the Haitian empanadas with Fish and Chicken. Both were really delicious. For dinner my friend had the chicken and shrimp pasta and I had the oxtails with black rice and salad. The pasta was cooked to perfection and it was very tasty. The oxtails were super tender. We did not have dessert because they have ran out. The restaurant is on the busy street but they offer parking in the back. Guess what they only put 1 shrimp and crab on it for $20 and the rice was so over power by dry shrimp that it tasted disgusting. Many occasion they mess with your food and for them it's normal not to give you th food youv requested on th uber eat app. If you want your food done right you just have to go to their plac where you can make sure to check it right in front of them. Not worth the headache and their over pricey food. Haitian food places have a neck on ignoring what the customer want instead they give you what they have at the time. The restaurant could use a bit of an update, but had the typical Caribbean restaurant vibe. The price of the food was pricey, but not sure in comparison to other Haitian restaurants in the area. I ordered a platter of rice and beans, and a platter of chicken with sauce, and some tassot, conch, with black rice. The rice and beans was 8/10, the chicken was 7/10, the tassot 5/10, and conch 5/10. The total for everything was over $250. Other than the lack luster tassot and conch, they forgot my sauce for the platter of chicken. SMDH. HOW DO YOU FORGET THAT! I had only did a quick sweep of the order but was assured everything was in there and being that I was the other customer in the restaurant at the time and didn't think it would be that difficult to keep a relatively small order correct. Fortunately the chicken and rice was edible without but would have definitely made it a 10/10, especially for that price. Would I go back? Yes, but def not for the conch ($35+) or tassot. Def not worth the price. But I would get the chicken as rice&beans... would definitely make sure they don't forget the sauce. I couldn't even chew the beef in the legume! The Boulet was cooked on the outside and raw on the inside. The rice was hard and the akra was over cooked. We finally got around to checking this place out and it sure didn't disappoint. All the food here is hearty and stuck to your ribs good. For appetizer we had chiquettaile, shredded smoked herring in a dark brown well seasoned sauce served with plantains. It was very hearty. For main We had Lambi and oxtail. Lambi was a spicy and savory conch dish served with black rice and plantains which was out of this world. The oxtail was a classic made in a traditional savory sauce, fall off the bone good. The place is byob with a nice well stocked liquor store right across the street. Both dishes paired well with Zinfandel wine and prestige Haitian beer. For desert we had a rum cake which was a fluffy sponge cake drenched in rum which wasn't then cooked off and was served hot. The place is nice and cozy with nautical decor which gives it an island feel. Place takes card but tips are preferred in cash, which for the quality of food we were happy to oblige.
