This thing is really big. Recommend staring at it for hours. Like they say, you haven't experienced Philly until you've seen it!

A DREAM COME TRUE for Rocky Fans!…read more My family and I are all huge Rocky fans, so visiting the Rocky Steps in Philadelphia was an absolute dream come true! If you're a fan of Sylvester Stallone or the Rocky franchise, this is one of those places you simply HAVE to visit. First off, seeing the iconic Rocky statue in person was awesome! We loved checking it out, taking pictures, and soaking in the atmosphere. The little shop nearby was also a great touch for fans looking to pick up some souvenirs and memorabilia. Of course, you can't visit the Rocky Steps without actually RUNNING up them! This was something we were all excited to do, and it was every bit as fun as we hoped. Now, I MAY have thrown up after running up a second time, but we'll just blame that on being out of shape! In my defence, Rocky made it look a lot easier in the movies! The view from the top is absolutely beautiful, too. It's such a picturesque spot overlooking the city, and it makes the climb even more worthwhile. Between the incredible photo opportunities, the statue, and the chance to recreate one of the most iconic movie moments ever, there's so much to love about this place. We had an absolute blast here, and it was easily one of our favourite stops during our Philadelphia trip. Even if you're not planning on running the steps twice like I apparently thought I could, it's worth visiting just to experience the atmosphere and take in the view. If you're a Rocky fan, this is a MUST-VISIT. Time to start training for that second run! For more food, travel, brewery, hockey, hotel, and destination reviews, check out our YouTube channel A&M Roam and follow along with Angela and Mike as we travel, eat, drink, hike, catch games, and goof around!

It's just fun seeing everyone recreating that Rocky moment. Some were humming the Rocky theme song. It was in my head the entire time. The steps are really easy to navigate. It's nostalgic and fun! You'll get a great view of Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Eakins Oval, and the Philadelphia skyline. The gorgeous view of City Hall was the main draw for me. Then, of course, the Rocky Balboa statue greets you as you reach the top with its line of people waiting to snap selfies. Lol! The view of the fountain and museum deserves lots of praise as well. The steps are a pop culture favorite in this part of the world. You just gotta do it!

There's so much cool stuff within the city limits that I've committed to trying to explore…read moresomething new (to me) every week. Recently that meant exploring the trolley trails in west Fairmount Park and finding the stone spiral arch bridge. In the early 1900s, a scene trolley took people through the woods. Nature has reclaimed the trolley paths, but in recent years they have been converted into miles of hiking trails. It's not crowded--I only saw 4 other people, mountain bikers, on my visit. It's a great place to explore. It's shaded so the walk was cool. It's pretty level so the hike is easy. And if you know where to go, you can find this beautiful bridge that looks like a brick spiral. The years have taken a toll, so I wonder how much longer we'll get to enjoy it. It's cool to think that in the past so much work was put into creating a beautiful structure that really just needed to serve a simple function. Don't have time for a long hike? You can get to the bridge quickly by entering the trail from Chamounix Mansion. Park by the equestrian building and head in. It's probably less than a 1/2 mile walk to the bridge.

It is an old bridge that leads to nowhere because it is no longer being used. It is surrounded by a forest, and kind of hard to find. The best way to find it is to stay at Chamounix Mansion, and follow the trail behind the trees. It's worth checking out if you like to post on Instagram, and finding hidden gems that are off the beaten path.
