You can park and walk to the clock (there is a lot right across the street) and if you do, there are several shops and restaurants right nearby. The one downside is that it is, understandably so, off for the winter months. I've been in the area in February, April, September and October and during each of those visits the clock was apparently "closed for the winter"

I've learned that sometimes when you are about to review a place, read other reviews and step back…read moreand think. I was about to give it a three until I read reviews. I didn't go and visit the house, I didn't take the tours, I was about to base it on how it didn't personally fit my needs. I would have wanted to camp there and realize it wasn't for me. Now for the positive, it's a beautiful place and it has great historic value. I loved the store. The young person behind the counter was so nice and helpful. We bought a gallon of maple syrup and a smaller one for our camper. It was on sale for 10% discount. The greatest thing though is that they sell fresh meat from the farm. They have a cool place for the kids on the other side of the store. The cute parrot pictured was in the lobby.

The welcome center was pretty nice and had a small kids museum inside that was interactive. There's also a gift shop with cute merch, local items, maple syrup, and other extras. They offer tours of some of the buildings for purchase, which is a cool option if you want a deeper experience, but even just walking around the property on your own is enjoyable. Overall, a really nice place to explore for a bit.

Nothing has panned out yet, but it is kept in good shape and is a National Historic Landmark. For now, you can visit and walk around the outside, though you are not able to go into the house. There are display boards in the yard with biographical information. The house next door is preserved as well, and there is an educational center in the backyard. I wasn't able to go in there, but it sounds like they have some displays, and general community education stuff. There is a replica of the house at the Motts Military Museum which you can tour, and is worth a visit. But for an aviation nerd like me, or any local history buff, a pilgrimage to this site is worth it. Park at the library a few doors down.

Impressive park that preserves "the Great Circle" which received a UNESCO World Heritage site…read moredesignation in 2023. I came here for a quick stop while driving to Columbus, OH in mid-June 2025 for a conference. Lot of pluses in visiting this park. First, it's an important ceremonial site built between 100BC and 400AD by the Hopewell Indians with a link to astronomical patterns. It was later used as a county fairground (which allowed it to be preserved). Second, parking is free and plentiful. Third, you can walk freely around the outdoor complex and read some of the signs and displays (the scale of the Great Circle is massive). Be sure to stay off the mounds. The only downside was that the museum was closed on a Monday. I did not see a restroom facility available when the museum was closed.

This is a beautiful bridge over the highway in the heart of Zanesville, a little bit east of downtown. It's one of these magnificent bridges that you mostly find in the Appalachians and Adirondacks, and they're so beautiful and specific to this region, and always make me think of Pittsburgh which is just down the road - or places near Pittsburgh.
