As an Australian Open dreamer, this tournament is Adelaide's finest alternative- which to sees the likes of some relatively massive tennis masters, (Notice never in their hugest peak though!) in the lead up to Melbourne's two weeks of unforgettable tennis come late January.
Players I have witnessed here include a young Andy Murray, Mark Philippoussis (Pre Age of Love...), James Blake complete with autograph *swoon* , and my absolute favourite... Jim Courier! Swoon a million! The charm of that man...
Unfortunately Adelaide's World Tennis Challenge has just finished in the lead up to this years Australian Open, and we only had three days to secure our attendance. I am so disappointed that I didn't get to see Tommy Haas as a result of missing this years tournament.... ärgerlich! However never fear, it will be back again in full spirits next year, hopefully.
Players aside however, this tournament is located in fantastic War Memorial Drive surroundings, and with a competent couple of grand stands for seating. There are also member areas, and garden style tents to enjoy during the sunny summers day with a refreshing beverage. I have had such fond memories here. Ah...
